Ros Hodgkins is a founding member and the acting president of the Cult Information and Family Support Network in Australia. Her daughter Emma got caught up in a cult in Sydney in the early ‘90s and was in it for 2 years. Ros will share her personal story and also tell us about what a cult is, how they work, and how to help someone who’s in one.

Back in 1894 New Zealand had 1,719 pubs - serving a population of just over 700 thousand. Most of those pubs are long gone, but there are still quite a few historic hotels up and down the country. Travel writer Peter Janssen has explored 174 of the best of them for his book, New Zealand Pubs.

A new golden age of serial killers

The 70s, 80s and 90s are sometimes called the "golden age" of serial killers. That's when Ted Bundy's reign of terror happened before he confessed to killing 30 women, and Jeffery Dahmer killed and cooked 17 men and boys. Peter Vronksy is a criminal justice expert who says conditions are perfect for another golden age of serial killers to begin in the next decade or so. His warning is in his new book, Sons of Cain: A History of Serial Killers From the Stone Age to the Present.
