New ETER Web interface and data for 2015/2016 on-line
The new Web interface of the European Tertiary Education Register is now on-line. The interface has been fully redesigned in order to offer a more intuitive access to ETER contents and data including:
  • ETER analytical reports employing ETER data for policy and analysis purposes.
  • Full methodological documentation on the ETER variables and data.
  • Use cases of ETER for academic research and policy analysis.
  • Technical documentation on how to extract automatically ETER data through API (new!).
The data search interface has also been completely redesigned in order to allow a smoother and more intuitive selection of variables and HEIs (including for example pre-selected sets of variables and option of downloading the whole dataset at once).
Together with the new interface, more complete data for the year 2015 (academic year 2015/2016) have been published. The new release also includes more detailed data on Erasmus mobility and on the presence of university hospitals; data on multiple campuses will be progressively integrated in the coming months. Two additional European countries are covered, i.e. Albania and Slovenia.
With this release, ETER data are available for five consecutive years (2011-2015), providing important information on the temporal evolution of European Higher Education. The release of the 2016 data will take place in late spring 2019.

Important notice: When you log in to the new ETER web application, you’ll automatically get an email asking for updating your ETER user profile. This is necessary, since we use new services and further increased our security settings. In order to keep up to date and be informed about the our next analytical reports or the coming posts in our tech-blog, be sure that you confirm to get the ETER newsletter.

The European Tertiary Education Register (ETER) is a database that provides a core set of data on Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) delivering degrees at the tertiary level in Europe. It provides descriptive information, such as legal status and foundation year, geographical information, students and graduates, staff, HEI expenditures, research activities, as well as a set of pre-defined indicators characterizing relevant dimensions of HEI activities, like the extent of subject specialization, international mobility, gender balance.
ETER is a project supported by the European Commission’s Directorate General for Education Youth, Sport and Culture and the Joint Research Centre for the years from 2013 to 2019. It is a joint undertaking of five partners - USI, Università della Svizzera Italiana, Lugano, Joanneum Research, Graz, NIFU – Nordic Institute for Studies in Innovation, Research and Education, Oslo, University of Rome La Sapienza and University of Pisa – in close collaboration with EUROSTAT, with a network of national experts and with the National Statistical Authorities of the participating countries
