Happy Birthday

My 39th birthday is this week, and my husband and I are going to take a very short trip to the Pacific coast to celebrate. I'm excited about what is to come in the next year!

Art Inspiration

For the most part, I follow quilters on Instagram. Lately I have been branching out to follow other artists, and I have to admit to being mesmerized by and inspired by the watercolor painting of Josie Lewis (@josielewisart). Click on the image above to see the image being painted.

I would love to follow more artists in other mediums. Do you have any suggestions for people you follow that inspire you? Reply to the newsletter and let me know!

Pocket Full of Change ++ Quilt Tutorial

My good friend Cheryl from Meadow Mist Designs published a super cute and fun quilt pattern tutorial yesterday that she calls Pocket Full of Change. Pocket Full of Change is perfect for using up larger scraps and left over bits of layer cakes, and (even better) with no matching seams, the cute design sews together quickly!

2019 Quilter's Planner Tutorials

Left: Paper Piecing Tips and Tricks, by Kerry of @kidgiddy
Right: EPP Basics, by Kitty of @nightquilter

All the projects included in the 2019 Quilter's Planner companion magazine have been revealed via @thequiltersplanner. Also included this year are two in depth tutorials on Foundation Paper Piecing by Kerry Goulder, and English Paper Piecing by Kitty Wilkin. There is a lot of value and information packed into the magazine this year!

The 2019 Quilter's Planner starts shipping just after Labor Day!

Milestone Quilt

I loved following along with my friend Kitty from Night Quilter's Milestone Quilt that she made during her youngest son, Finn's, first year. Inspired by Kitty, my friend Michelle Bartholomew just announced the birth of her daughter, Clara, by revealing the Clara milestone quilt that she designed. Follow along with @michellebartholomew to see the quilt grow, and perhaps be inspired by Kitty and Michelle to create your own #milestonequilt!

Industry News

The Craft Industry Alliance has published a lot of great content on their blog recently!

How to Write a Great Bio: Tips for Craft Business Owners - I have a lot on my mental "to do" list for Quilting Jetgirl, and refreshing my bio is one of the things I would like to do, using the tips from this article.

How to Pick the Right Social Media Scheduler - It's crazy how much of a time sink it can be to create content, whether it is for my blog, this newsletter, or publishing to Instagram and Facebook. I have yet to truly dive into scheduling beyone my blog and newsletter. Scheduling my blog and newsletter posts is a huge benefit and I'm not sure why I have been resisting doing the same for social media.

Craft Industry Fears Major Fallout from New Tariff Activity - Abby Glassenberg dives into the complex territory of the new tarriffs and how they might affect the craft industry. As noted in the article, the majority of premium quilting cotton sold in independent quilt shops are imported from Korea and Japan and will not be tariffed.

Upcoming Quilting Jetgirl Events

I am currently able to book through April 2019. If you or your guild is interested in having me teach, reach out to me at yvonne@quiltingjetgirl.com.

In Closing...

I am happy to report that our buddy, #PuppyTheCat, has had a dramatic turn around and is back to his normal cuddly self. My brother theorizes that he had a kitty kidney stone, but it's probably impossible for us to really know what was going on. I'm just happy he seems to be comfortable and mobile and happy again. I am spending as much time as possible cuddling under a quilt with him: his favorite place to be!
