Food Bank President & CEO Natasha R. Thompson hosts the eight-week series with appearances being made by Jack Salo, Executive Director of Rural Health Network and Erin Summerlee, Director of the Food & Health Network The series premiers at 8:30 pm on Friday, September 14th. From the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition: Both the House and the Senate have now passed their own versions of the 2018 Farm Bill, and now we’re entering the final phase: a conference committee is working to negotiate one final combined bill. The choice is stark: a farm bill that supports family farmers, sustainable agriculture, and a more equitable future, or one that harms farmers and communities and strips away investments from conservation, local food systems, food assistance, and more. Learn more about the 2018 Farm Bill here.

Community News:
Seven Valleys Health Coalition was recently the recipient of a Local Foods, Local Places (LFLP) grant from the EPA to help Cortland, NY reinvest in its neighborhoods and improve quality of life as they develop the local food economy. EPA officials hosted workshops over two days in Cortland for community members to come together and develop a community action plan. Darlene Byrd, an Environmental Protection Specialist with the EPA was quoted in the Cortland Standard as saying, "Cortland's plan was selected from 80 applicants because it had three qualities the EPA looks for; It is seeking to revitalize its downtown area; it has access to healthy foods; and it has new opportunities for business."
