Invitation to Worship
Like many folks today, I enjoy instant gratification. Sometimes the two days of shipping for internet purchases can be too long. When I want something, I generally want it now.
Not everything works this way. Not everything can be at my fingertips the moment I want it. I think about that when I long to see more justice in our world and in our communities. I long for justice to be done immediately, but most of the time I am disappointed.
The virtues of patience and perseverance are not hallmarks of this age, yet they are precisely what we need when we strive to be agents of justice. How does God ask us to seek out justice in such a time as this? Join us as we discuss it in Sunday at 5 p.m. (Also, don’t forget to mark your calendars: Homecoming @ Belong is next week, Sunday September 9! Food, community, and celebration! You won’t want to miss it.)
Grace and Peace,
Rev. Jasper Peters

Wednesday Night at Belong
Launching Wednesday, September 5, 6–9 p.m.
On September 5, Wednesday Night at Belong officially launches! Putting a fresh take on the traditional Wednesday night church meeting, Wednesdays will be a weekly gathering inspired by the word “liturgy,” which literally means “the work of the people.” If you’re looking for deeper connection, spiritual refreshment, and opportunities for service through action, you’ll be right at home. During the night, we will make lunches for our friends without homes, come together and hear from each other, pray together, sing together, and work on service projects in and around the church. The band will rehearse for the following Sunday and anyone who is interested in worship arts is encouraged to meet, play, sing, create, and brainstorm more creative ways of serving our church body through the arts.
Snacks and beverages will be provided (potluck is invited!), and while we will not have formal childcare, your kids are more than welcome to join in.

Homecoming
Sunday, September 9, 5 p.m.
On September 9, we will celebrate our first Homecoming as a Church community. (In case your palms just got sweaty and memories from 9th grade came flooding back: it’s not that kind of Homecoming!)
As summer comes to a close, we recognize that we have new stories and dreams to share, and a renewed desire to connect and belong. Best of all, we have a community where we are blessed to share it all as we seek after God’s Kingdom. Homecoming is our chance to come together, reconnect, and celebrate what God is doing in our community. We will have a Blessing of the Backpacks (a chance to honor all the students and educators that are in our community), celebrate with food and fun after worship, and have a chance for you to learn more about Belong Groups that are up and running all over the metro area. This is the best time of year to connected or reconnect to the Belong Community as we gather to celebrate.
