September General Meeting

Charlie Goldman will give us a presentation in the Berger at 10:30 am on Friday the 14th of September.

From baguettes to bagels: how the modern art capital moved from Paris to New York City, as seen through works from SFMOMA. Learn what factors in world history led artists to come to Manhattan and make it the hottest place in the art world in the 20th century. Works featured are all available for viewing at San Francisco's premier modern art museum.

Oakmont Annual Art Show

Friday and Saturday October 12 and 13

On October 12 and 13, we will have our 46th annual art show.  Many artworks will be featured, showcasing the work of  our talented senior artists and craftspersons.

There is still time to enter your work before September 14th.  Download your entry form below, or pick one up from the OVA office.

The show supports the association’s scholarship fund for Santa Rosa Junior College Artists through a silent auction and raffles.

Several of our local artists have donated works for the silent auction.

The show will be presented in Oakmont’s Berger Center, with hours from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, both Friday and Saturday. The raffle drawing will take place on Saturday  with a wine and cheese reception from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Many local businesses and wineries support the event with donations.

The annual scholarship fund was established twelve years ago, with scholarships awarded to promising young artists attending Santa Rosa Junior College, who are transferring to 4-year colleges. This year’s scholarship award winner is Axel Koenig. He will show his work and be introduced at the Saturday reception.

Here is Axel Koenig's letter to the OAA.

Dear Trustees of the Oakmont Art Association,

With this letter, I express my sincere gratitude to you for making the Santa Rosa Junior College Art Department Scholarship possible. As one of this year’s recipients, I am grateful for the opportunities this award will provide me.

Thanks to the kindness of the Board of Trustees, this scholarship award increases my chances of success and assists in achieving my education and career goals. Without a doubt, this award will prove to be extremely valuable to me, helping to reduce the financial burdens of pursuing a degree in Studio Art.

I appreciate your confidence in me and willingness to contribute to my future education. I am transferring, in the spring of 2019, from Santa Rosa Junior College and look forward to completing my Bachelor’s Degree at Sonoma State University. At the current time, I plan on majoring in Art and Education in hopes of one-day teaching art students here in the Bay Area.

As anyone attending college knows, the cost of fees, books and materials, and living expenses are daunting. The annual scholarship I receive from you is essential in helping me achieve my goals.

Again, thank you for your generosity.

Respectfully,
