SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY EVENTS

Voluntown needs Girl Scout leaders!! Are you looking for some inspiration in your life? It’s amazing how a group of girls will inspire you to be a better you. Being a Girl Scout Leader is more than just being a volunteer. It’s a life changing experience you will fall in love with! We currently have a waiting list of girls around the state who can’t wait to be Girl Scouts but we don’t have enough leaders to make their dreams come true. Being a Girl Scout Leader does take time, but as the leader, you can create a schedule that works best for you. And don’t worry, we provide all the training you need so that both you and the girls have a meaningful experience. Whether you are a parent, alumna, or someone who wants to make a difference in the life of a girl, being a Girl Scout Leader could turn out to be one of the BEST things you’ve done. Give it a try, or better yet, ask a friend to be a co-leader and double your fun!  To get started go to GSofCT website and click on “Way to Volunteer” to start the process.

My name is Debi MacPhail and I live here in Voluntown, I run a Girl Scout Senior Troop with 7,8thand 9th graders, you may have seen us around, doing community service, selling cookies hiking and camping. We truly need more volunteers to form more Troops in our town. We have a need for leaders for Daisy's (Kindergarten & 1st grade) as well as Juniors (grades 4 and 5) There are so many girls in Voluntown that want to join Girl Scouts but there are no adults available to lead them. If you think you would love to be a part of Girl Scouts feel free to contact me. Thank you! macphail7@yahoo.com or our Service Unit Manager, Mary Beth, atmbeth.dgreen@sbcglobal.net or 860-861-5214.

The New London County 4-H Club is accepting new members this fall. The NLC 4-H Club offers activities in various areas of interest. Kindergarten, Preschool and 3 Year Old Parents:

It is the Board of Education’s policy that an adult must meet Kindergarten and Preschool students when they disembark from the bus/van.  If an adult is not present, the driver will bring the child back to school and parents will need to make arrangements to pick them up.  On early dismissal days the afternoon session of the 3 year old program and Preschool will not meet.  On delayed openings the morning session of 3 year olds and Preschool will be cancelled.

Grade One Through Eight Parents:

Students will be dropped off at their designated stop whether or not an adult is present.  Please be sure they are able to enter the house.
