Matthew Harrison's Movie of the Month 2018

Dear friends and fans of Matthew Harrison Films;

In 2018 I’ll be releasing one rarely (or never seen) movie from my archives each month. I’ve been making movies for fifty years – a ton of shorts, a bunch of features and network and cable TV shows. Most of these twelve movies will be new digital restorations, released free to view on YouTube. Amazon will release some, like my rarely seen feature MY LITTLE HOLLYWOOD - complete with subtitles and Special Features!

Nothing says August quite like a snow covered banana boat on Manhattan’s East River, so this month Harrison Films Releasing and Film Crash are proud to release Matthew Harrison’s 1987 portrait of Dole’s TROPICAL STAR (at that time a brand new ship) discharging cargo in the Lower East Side during the blizzard of 1987. You’ll never feel quite the same about bananas after you see what they go through to get to your breakfast table. Taped on VHS in Manhattan’s Lower East Side, TROPICAL SKY has a run time of 2:17 minutes and is scored by “Hoerst du sie noch?” from Tristan und Isolde by Richard Wagner.

It would be impossible not to include this classic nautical banana 2nd grade joke:
Q: What’s yellow and always points north?
A: A magnetic banana.

We hope our 12-month cinematic excursion through celluloid and video will be as much fun for you as we have making these movies.
