Announcements

We want to Thank all the students and families that attended Family Conferences on August 28th. If you could not make it on the 28th, we have scheduled conferences again on Sept 4th during the school day. Because we are getting to know the students, we ask that they be present in these conferences if possible.

All 6th graders will have school on September 4th. They will have an orientation program in the morning and be with their teachers in the afternoon. Students in grades 7 & 8 will not have school on Tuesday, September 4th, but will start school on Wednesday, September 5th.

Technology Agreement Forms

The following link https://www.isd742.org/Page/7712 will take you to the technology agreement form that needs to be completed by all families. If this is taken care of prior to the family conference, students WILL receive their device from their teacher at that time.

Please complete this form and select your choice of insurance.

Bus Transportation

The regular daily bus schedule begins September 4th for 6th grade students and for all students on September 5th. Students should be aware of where their bus unloads and ask the driver where they will be picked up. If you have questions concerning bussing, please call Transportation at 320-253-9370.

Parent Pick-Up

Please plan to pick-up your student after school on 12th street south of the bus chute. Students are able to use the sidewalk just outside the football field and track to safely walk to parents waiting along the road. The parking lot on the north side of the building will not be open for student pick-up. Thank you for your cooperation with this.

Student Schedules and Lockers

If your student still needs a class schedule, all schedules are in Skyward. If you need your Skyward information please go to our South webpage. Students can receive class schedules from their Advisory teachers the first day of school. Students who need locker assignments and combinations will receive them on Tuesday, Sept 4th and Wednesday, September 5th. Thank you.

WEB Crew 2018-19

If you are a member of the WEB Crew for the 2018-19 school year, remember we all will be at the first day of school for 6th graders. Meet in the gym at 8:05am. If you can stay all day, we will use you to help with family conferences in the afternoon.

Morning Procedures

We will spend the first week of school teaching the new morning routine and programming expectations. All students will be expected to be in the south gym, north gym and cafeteria.

Beginning Sept 10th, there will be various locations for students to go in the morning when they arrive for the day. Breakfast will still be served in the cafeteria, so all students will have that option. New this year will be the following:

Open Gym
Homework Help
Open Team Room
Open Media Center For Book Check-Out
Math Help
Any Other Special Programs (i.e. Band, Choir)

All students will still be expected make their way to one of these locations and to remain there until 8:20 when they will be released to advisory. Students will get more information during the first days of school.

Our Community

South Parent Association(SPA) Meeting Dates

The South Parent Association is a voluntary parent group that meets once month every third Tuesday.

What Does the Group Do?

Collaborate & provide feedback to improve academics, climate and student success in partnership with school
Support the District Mission to Prepare, Engage, Educate, Empower, and Inspire All learners
Support projects to improve the functionality, safety, and appearance of our South Learning Community

Please join the South Parent Association(SPA) and be the voice to support student success.

After-School Programs

Activities This Week:

Falls Sports have begun. It is NOT too late to sign-up. Students can stop by the Main office and pick up the proper paperwork to get started this fall.

Students must have forms signed, fees paid and a current Physical (7th & 8th grade) on file to participate.

Football Practice	September 4th -7th 3:30-5:30pm
Volleyball Practice	September 4th -7th 3:30-5:30pm
Soccer Practice	September 4th -7th 3:30-5:30pm
*Students are available for pick up at 5:30 after practice each day.	*Please have your child picked up by 5:45pm.

Activities Bus after practice will start Sept 6th @ 5:30pm. For information please contact activities office.

Tech Football Apparel:

The Tech Football Team is inviting all South football players to participate in the 2018 season apparel store. If anyone would like to purchase Tech Football clothing please go to www.rambow.com and use the store code: techfb. The store will close on August 27th.
