August Newsletter

We've had such a great month here at Global Samaritans! Visits from teams, results on the kids end of term tests, and J.A.M. Camp have made for a very exciting August!

Team Trips

Last month we were having technical difficulties with WI-FI and couldn't get out a newsletter but we were so thankful for the team from Colonial Hills Church that came to serve with us here in Zambia! They were eager and willing to serve in many different village schools and even helped out with our Zam J.A.M ministry here at Global. On top of that, the team and their home church donated money for 4 wells to be put in different villages in the area! Our well drilling team worked very hard to get them all put in and the team got to go in and help install a pump. They also got to help with a well celebration and stayed for dinner and the Jesus Film!
This month, we had a visit from a team in the Athens area including Erin Porter, Ruby Cheeves, and the Avants family! It was so great to see them here serving with the kids at Global! The team brought lots of projects to do with the kids and spent so much time doing crafts and playing games and doing puzzles with the children! The Avants, also donated to sponsor 2 wells that our well drilling team worked hard to install out in 2 different villages. Then the team got to go out and do a celebration with them and see the impact it was going to make on the people's lives in that village! The team took the kids from Global to see Victoria Falls and eat in town!

Closing Out The Term

Our kids finished up their second school term in early August and have been enjoying their 4 week holiday! At the end of the term they announced the kids class rankings and we were thrilled that our kids did so well! Some of the highest ranking kids include:

  • Gideon: Number 1 in 6th grade
  • Judy, Iness, Cholwe: Tied for number 1 in 2nd grade
  • Marvin: Number 3 in grade 4
  • Lawrence: Number 4 in grade 3

Survivor Season 3

This month, with the kids on holiday from school, it seemed like the perfect time for Survivor season 3! The kids had a blast playing games all day long and competing in their tribes to be the ultimate survivor!

By the end of the day we were down to the final 3 competitors of Mishack, Peggy and Mapalo for one last showdown! All 3 competitors fought hard and it came down to a close finish as they finished their final puzzle but the winner of the day was...Mapalo!!!

J.A.M Camp

We had our second session of J.A.M Camp the last week of August. J.A.M stands for Jesus And Me and is a week of VBS type ministry with the kids at Global and even children who live in the surrounding villages! This time, our theme was sports camp! Each day focused on a different sport and on Friday we had a full day of sports competitions!

Throughout the week the kids learned different Bible stories that continued on with our curriculum that we have been learning every week at Zam J.A.M. Then on Friday, our staff did a Cross Walk skit of Jesus' death and resurrection and helped us share the Gospel with all the kids at camp!

How Can I Get Involved??

One  way you can be involved with what Global Samaritans is doing in Zambia is to sponsor, or help sponsor a well! Our well drilling team works so hard putting in clean water all over our part of Zambia, enabling us to follow up with sharing about the true LIVING water of Jesus Christ!
Another way you can get involved is to sponsor a child! Our kids are so blessed to have so many people that love them and support them from the states, but as new kids arrive, we are always looking for new sponsors to help Global be able to meet all the needs of the children here.
You can also get involved in Global's ministry by coming to visit us on a team trip! Coming to Zambia on a team trip enables you to be God's hands and feet to the kids at Global Samaritans and the people in the surrounding villages! It is a truly life changing experience and we would love to have you come serve alongside us!
