Twenty Years of the Calendar Girls


06 July to 30 September

The fundraising phenomenon of the Calendar Girls was inspired by the tragic death of Angela Baker's husband John, Assistant National Park Officer for the National Park Authority. During his illness, Angela's friends began to raise money by creating an alternative WI calendar. Follow their story.

Quilting Demonstration 


Sunday 9 September

Join Kate Trusson for a demonstration of quilting. A chance to look at some of the quilts in the collection and to see the methods of making quilts.

Whey Hey!  


Saturday 15 September

13:00 – 16:00        
Join us on a guided walk led by our Dales Volunteers, starting at the Wensleydale Creamery in Hawes. We’ll stop by the Dales Countryside Museum to see historic milking exhibits, before heading out along the Pennine Way to Hardraw. We’ll visit a farm to learn about the history of milking in the Yorkshire Dales National Park and providing milk to the Wensleydale Creamery. Booking essential. Adults £3, under 16s free.

Secret Squirrel  


Sunday 16 September
   
13:00 – 15:30
This is a gentle 1½ mile guided walk in search of the charming Red Squirrels of Wensleydale. Join our Rangers on a search for tracks and signs of local wildlife, ending at the Snaizeholme Red Squirrel view point. This is a must for wildlife spotters and photographers. Booking essential. Adults £5, 18 & under £2. Includes transport to Snaizeholme.

Taste in Time - Farmhouse Food 

 
Tuesday 18 and Thursday 20 September
 
13:30 – 16:30        
Drop in and taste old-fashioned farmhouse food. Hear how cheese, butter and oatcakes were made in a traditional Dales farmhouse.

In the Kitchen – Making Cheese in Victorian Times


Friday 21 September

11:00 – 15:00
Join us in our traditional farmhouse kitchen where Mrs H will explain about making and marketing cheese in Victorian times.

Big Dig at Bainbridge

An illustrated talk by former YDNPA  community archaeologist, Rebecca Cadbury Simmons about the results from the 2017 community Big Dig at Bainbridge. Part of the Friends of the Museum annual lecture programme. Free - Donations Welcome.
