BOOK NOW!

AUSTRALIAN READING HOUR BOOKISH MORNING TEA
In adults, reading has been shown to reduce stress by 68%. That's more than listening to music, going for a walk or having a cup of tea. At our bookish morning tea you can expect one whole hour dedicated to reading, as well as plenty of tea, coffee and nibbles to go around.

EARLY YEARS READING PROGRAM FOR MANDARIN SPEAKERS

This program is about how adults can help very young children to read. We will be working with you to develop ideas for inspiring your children to read in their first and second language, and to sustain the habit so they become capable and confident readers. It is specially designed for the local Chinese community, so we would like to invite Chinese-speaking people to take part. This program is presented in partnership with Deakin University.

The Home Library Service provides an important service to those who are unable to visit the library. In addition to providing materials to those who are housebound, they also support staff at residential care facilities with resources for use in rehabilitation and recreation. In 2016/2017, 58 volunteers allowed for provision of over 51,000 loans to go out to 477 individuals and 56 aged group facilities.

We are currently looking for volunteers interested in working with our Home Library Service team. An interest and ability to communicate with people, particularly those who are elderly, is desirable. Further details are available on at: www.wml.vic.gov.au/Page/Page.aspx?Page_Id=835
