Welcome Dr. Tenley Bick!

Tenley Bick joins the department having received her PhD in Contemporary Art History at the University of California, Los Angeles in 2016. She specializes in modern and global contemporary art, with special interests in post-WWII European art, contemporary African art (continental and diasporic), and social art history and cultural geopolitics.

Alumna Carolina Alarcon Appointed Visiting Associate Professor at University of Wisconsin-Madison

This fall Carolina Alarcon, who received her PhD in the spring of 2018, will join the Department of Art History at University of Wisconsin-Madison as Visiting Assistant Professor of Early Modern Art.

Welcome Dr. Kristin Dowell!

Kristin Dowell joins the department from the Florida State University Department of Anthropology, where she has been an associate professor since 2015. She specializes in art of Native North America with an emphasis on Indigenous cinema and contemporary visual culture.

Ph.D. Candidate Gabriela Germana Curates Exhibitions of Contemporary Peruvian Art

Gabriela Germana curated exhibitions of Peruvian contemporary art now on display at the Embassy of Peru Art Gallery in Washington, D.C. and at the Pensacola Museum of Art.

Welcome Dr. Grant Mandarino!

Grant Mandarino joins the department as a postdoctoral scholar, having received his PhD in Art History at the University of Michigan in 2018. Trained in the social history of art, Mandarino brings to the study of historical artworks and producers a focus on changing conceptions of artistic labor and the impact of socio-political conflicts.

Professor Stephanie Leitch Awarded ACLS Collaborative Research Fellowship

Professor Stephanie Leitch has been awarded an American Council of Learned Societies 2018 Collaborative Research Fellowship for her joint research project titled The Epistemology of the Copy in Early Modern Travel Narratives.
