Drop-In Career Help

At the MU Career Center, we recognize that students have incredibly busy schedules. So we can better work with student schedules, the MU Career Center offers drop in services. Mizzou students can drop in whenever they have a free moment Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the semester. No appointment is necessary and the best part is that it is completely FREE for MU students! Our services are all provided by highly-trained paraprofessionals (MU student peers) and include résumé reviews, interview prep, LinkedIn profile consultations, career and major exploration conversations, job-search, and much more! We are located in the lower level of the Student Success Center and can’t wait for students to come by.

The MU Career Center is only closed during fall, winter and spring break, with reduced hours during the summer. Check out the News and Events section of our website for the most up-to-date information!
Do you know students struggling to balance work life and personal life or to make career/major decisions?   Let them know about  the FREE Career Counseling available for students at the MU Career Center!  This is a service that goes beyond our regular drop-ins with career specialists to provide students with ongoing one-on-one support. There are five Career Counselors now taking appointments, ready to assist students with a variety of  career and personal-related concerns.

Students can sign up through MU Connect for a 30 minute intake session with one of our counselors (use the "Services” Tab and  search for Career Counseling in the search bar). Call 573-882-6801 if you have questions or need assistance with helping a student make an appointment.
The MU Career Center would like to introduce our new training program for faculty and staff, the MU Career Development Network.  This program will provide specialized training for faculty and staff who want to equip themselves to help students with their career-related questions and preparation. These Career Services Champions will receive a certificate of completion as well as a vinyl sticker to identify themselves as someone who has the training, information, and desire to help students with their career success.
  1. What are the benefits of membership in this network?
  • Receive access to ALL training resources as well as connection to and collaboration with all other network members via a Canvas organization.
  • Get monthly updates, information and resources from the MU Career Center newsletter.
  • Be the first to know about upcoming trainings and new offerings from the MU Career Center/campus career services.
  • This is professional development for YOU, as well as a way to help students. List your participation in this network on MyPerformance/MyVita, your resume, LinkedIn, etc.
  1. How do I join and become a Career Services Champion?
    • Attend an upcoming training session in September (7th & 11th)! These 3-hour training sessions will be our standard training for membership in the network going forward, and it will consist of three modules: 1) Introduction to Career Services at MU, 2) Helping Students: Tips & Tools, and 3) Resources & Referrals. Registration, dates, and times for the two sessions can be found on the MU Career Development Network page.*
:As you are likely aware, one of the Strategic Enrollment Management goals of MU is to “ensure that 95% of undergraduate and graduate/professional students are employed or in graduate school within 6 months of graduation by 2023”. We know you care about the career development of Mizzou students; participation in this program is one way to learn more about how to support students as well as help Mizzou reach its goals!  For questions or more information, please visit our website or reach out to Carrie Collier at colliercm@missouri.edu.

*Can’t make the pre-set dates and times? If you would like to set up a training specifically for your program or department, we would be happy to do that! Please email Carrie Collier with some potential dates & times that might work for your group.
