Daycare & Preschool News

With the new school year settling down into routine, our students are adjusting well. We are excited to add a few new faces to our staff this year: Kelsey Logan is Mrs. Mina’s TA in the two-year-old class, Julianna Benton is also joining Mrs. Mina’s class as the morning and afternoon floater, Dareyla Viragh is our new third- and fourth-grade Extended Care teacher. Please welcome them to our Curtis family. Although most of our positions have been filled, we still have some Extended Care and substitute positions available. If you or someone you know is interested, the application can be found on our website.

We will be celebrating National Teddy Bear Day on September 7 (the official day is 9/9). Please let your students bring in their favorite teddy bear to share their day with.

- Avia Stocker, Daycare & Preschool Director

Elementary School News

Congratulations to Mrs. Koone and her family on the birth of baby boy, Judah Winston Koone on August 7, 2018.

And thank you to Mrs. Haywood for serving as our acting Elementary Principal while Mrs. Koone is out for a few more weeks.

CBS Elementary will be celebrating Grandparents' Day, on Tuesday, September 25 starting at 8:10 a.m. in the Sanctuary. During our regular Chapel time, students will sing songs and recite poems for their grandparents. After this, grandparents and students will be dismissed to their individual classrooms for a special gift. Once all Grandparents' Day festivities are done, students have the option to leave school early and spend the rest of the day with their grandparents.  In the coming days, a permission slip will be sent home. In order for a student to leave with his/her grandparent, we must have the signed permission slip by Friday, September 21. Please mark your calendars as we look forward to the opportunity to have grandparents gather and spend time with their elementary students.

- Mallory Koone, Elementary Principal

Middle & High School News

I want to take this opportunity to thank the multitude of people who have prayed, planned, and provided for this school year. God has set the foundation for a successful year in bringing together a godly, professional staff, supportive parents, and wonderful students. WE ARE CURTIS, and together we will continue the Curtis tradition of building servant leaders through education from a biblical world view.

As we continue to settle into the new school year, you will be hearing of more opportunities for our Middle School and High School students to participate in chapel, clubs, and sports. Our parents also have a number of opportunities to stay connected with the school through volunteer work, chaperoning field trips, and the Crusader Club. Other ways to stay connected are online via Renweb, Facebook, and the school’s website. Our desire is for our families to get connected and stay connected throughout the year.

- Mr. Larry Ford, Middle and High School Principal

From the Crusader Club

The Crusader Club is an organization of parents and teachers designed to promote unity and to enhance the involvement of family in the life of the school. That is accomplished through monthly meetings, supporting athletic functions (such as the concession stand) and several fundraisers during the school year. Parents from all grade levels of CBS are welcome to participate.

The Coupon Book Sale is running through September 7. Funds raised through the sale supports many aspects of the school, including $1 per book that goes directly to the classroom. Students who sell 5 or more books by September 7 will participate in a Magic Show and "Pig Race" on September 21.
