Dancebox September 2018

In partnership with The Actors Studio, Dancebox is a regular platform to showcase emerging choreographers, or experimental works by established choreographers from Malaysia. This edition featuring dances by JS Wong, Lim Paik Yin, Mohd Nuriqram, Leng Poh Gee, Fahezul Azmi Suhaimi, Hafzal Aziz and Matt Tan.

Taridikotakan (Bharatanatyam Reclaimed)

Rescheduled and relocated to Studio Ramli Hassan in Bukit Tunku. Performed by new and senior dancers of Sutra, TARIDIKOTAKAN, a Malay word implying the ‘integrity of fulfilling a resolve’, presents a rare opportunity to see Sutra perform bharatanatyam.

Inspitari 2018

14 new creations of Malaysian dance, one from each of the states, presented by 276 artists from the National Department of Culture and Arts (JKKN). Including guest performances by Artistana Istana Budaya, DBKL, ASWARA and PERMATA Seni Tari.

I am Ravana

An alternate take on the Indian epic Ramayana, as the demon lord Ravana asks humanity, "Why do you rejoice in my death?" A headlining event of the DiverseCity KL International Arts Festival 2018, staged by Australian organisation Saraswati Mahavidhyalaya (SMV) with Temple of Fine Arts Inner Space Dance.

Short + Sweet Malaysia 2018

Kicking off in KL on 7 September with S+S Stand-Up Comedy+Song followed by Musical, Junior Dance (new category for dancers 16 and below), Dance and Theatre ending on 4 November. As a competition, the performers compete for a place in the Gala Finals. S+S Dance starts on 10 October until 21 October.

Tandak Mengalai: The Exquisite Dances of Sabah and Sarawak

ASWARA’s Faculty of Dance presents traditional dances from the Murut, Kadazan, Bajau, Rungus from Sabah and the Iban, Bidayuh, Melanau, Orang Ulu and others of Sarawak, through the dance dramas of Huminodun from Sabah, and the legendary origins of Mount Santubong and Sejinjang in Sarawak.

Amist the Wind
