Here's what's happening this month at Gloucester Rd WI.

Surprise Workshop + Grow Off / Bake Off / Make Off

The first hour of our September meeting will be a special workshop to help mark 100 years since the first women were given the vote. We've been invited to contribute to an artwork so come and add yourself to the mix. Intrigued? You should be!

Please arrive in time for the workshop to start at 8pm sharp.

Then it'll be time for this year's eagerly anticipated grow off / bake off / make off!
This year's categories are:

Grow - Biggest / Three of a Kind / Novelty
Bake - Cupcake / Muffin / Bread
Make - Home Brew / Floral Arrangement in a Teacup / Up-cycled Wearable Accessory

Each person can have three entries in total for the chance to win themselves a Gloucester Road WI rosette.

Looking Ahead

2018/19 Committee

It will be AGM time in October and there will also be some changes to the GRWI committee.
Each WI needs to have committee members in the key roles of President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer and two of these roles are going to up for grabs this autumn.

Secretary - handles correspondence and emails, keeps in contact with the local federation, assists with agenda and minutes of committee meetings.

Treasurer - Maintains the accounts, advises on financial planning, pays bills and issues receipts.

There is one further role to fill:

Online Manager - Manages the GRWI website and Twitter/Facebook/Pinterest pages. Writes and sends the monthly newsletter.

The committee meet once a month and have already begun planning the program for next year's meetings which is the biggest job!
If you are interested in any of these roles then please come and speak to one of the current committee members or email us on Info@GloucesterRoadWI.org.

Expressions Arts Festival

The Expressions Arts Festival will be taking place at the Paintwork on the 15th and 16th September and we are going to have a stall selling cake there from 10am -2pm on Sunday the 16th. Everything we raise will go to our 2018 charity Linkage Bristol.
If anyone would like to bake or help out then email info@gloucesterroadwi.org or let us know via Facebook.

Let's Get Quizzical

Friday 12th October is the date for this year's fundraising quiz which will be held at The Station and includes delicious food to get our fun-filled evening off to a good start.
Tickets are £12 each with 50% going to The Station and 50% our 2018 charity Linkage Bristol.
Buy yours at the September meeting!

Raffle Prizes

Perhaps you can't attend the quiz itself but want to be involved? We need a few raffle prizes for quiz night, so why not donate something? Got any unwanted presents? Freebies from work? A spare bottle of something in the drinks cupboard? All very welcome as prizes!
