HFNZ/HFA Fitness Collaboration

On the Move with Haemophilia, is an online interactive educational programme developed by In Vivo Academy in collaboration with the Haemophilia Foundations of Australia and New Zealand.

The goal of the programme is to improve the knowledge and confidence of parents, carers, and teachers when discussing and managing exercise for young people with haemophilia. This programme lists the benefits of regular exercise for people with haemophilia, and describes factors to consider when choosing suitable exercises and sports. It also provides information to encourage regular and appropriate exercise and describes steps to take when a young person has a bleeding episode, and rehabilitation and returning to exercise or sports after a bleeding episode.

2018 HFNZ AGM Update

The HFNZ AGM is coming up in Wellington, and there have been a couple of changes that you need to know about. The AGM is now scheduled for Saturday November 3 at 1pm. This is a change from the previously advertised date. We changed the date so that we could be sure that the training that is also scheduled for this weekend is given to the right people i.e. newly elected committee and council members.

Which brings us to the next change...

After the AGM on Saturday we'll be running training for all newly-elected committee and council members, as well as any other members interested in how our governance systems work. This will continue on the morning of Sunday November 4. The exact content is yet to be determined, but you can be assured of an overview of HFNZ, and that you'll come away armed with all the knowledge you'll need to be an effective committee or council member.

So, save the dates, November 3 & 4, and get ready for a great AGM, and some very useful training.

Register for the HFNZ National Family Camp

The next HFNZ National Family Camp is coming up fast! Planning has begun in earnest for a camp for the whole HFNZ whānau at the Woodend Christian Camp in North Canterbury on January 25 - 28 2019.

As always, this will be a fantastic opportunity to connect with our people from around the country. There'll be fun, education, activities, socialising, and more!

Registration for this fantastic event is now open!

To register, just click on the image below, use the pw HFNZ, then fill out your details, and the details of the members of your whānau who will also be attending.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact us at admin@haemophilia.org.nz

... And on that note...

We can't run the great camps and workshops we do without our amazing volunteers. The same is true for the upcoming National Family Camp. So, we're now looking for a bunch of keen young people to step up and volunteer as helpers.

If you're 18 - 30, and want to come along to camp as a youth leader, then this is your chance.

Our youth leaders do all sorts of things at camp, from preparing dinner, to running groups, to playing with the kids. It's a lot of fun, and a fantastic way to give a little back to your foundation. We have a wonderful group of young people who always put their hand up for events like this, and they always have an awesome time.

If you'd like to join them, just click on the image below, use the pw HFNZ, fill out your details, and we'll add you to the list. Closer to the time we'll be having a look at how many we need, and selecting our leaders accordingly.

Exciting events on the Horizon...

HFNZ is really proud of the great events we put on for our members. There are a few coming up right now that you'll need to catch up about from the bloodline reports, and another that you need to start planning for...

On this weekend are the Piritoto Noho marae and AGM, and the Central Camp and AGM. Invitations are now closed for the Central Camp, but it's worth keeping your eye out for a camp report. It sounds like they have a fantastic programme planned at a very nice venue in Napier.

The Piritoto noho is happening on August 31 at the Te Tahawai marae in Pakuranga. Again, the Piritoto team have an engaging programme lined up, and they'll also be running their AGM on the day. Look out for the report on this event in the next edition of Bloodline.

HFNZ Women's Weekend is on in just two week's time in Wellington. This is a fantastic opportunity for HFNZ women from across the country to get together, do some learning, and reconnect over two awesome nights. This event is sold out, so again watch out for the report!

Finally, we're running our national AGM and regional office-holder workshop on the first weekend in November. As notified above, we've swapped the days for these events. So, the AGM is now on Saturday November 3, and the office-holder workshop is on Sunday November 4. To express your interest in either, or both, of these events contact the head office team at admin@haemophilia.org.nz
