Dragons Medal at Asia-Pacific

Softball SA's two representative teams traveled to Singapore in late June to compete in the Little League International - Asia-Pacific tournament, with both teams returning home with medals.

The Senior League division team achieved a bronze medal after being eliminated by China in the preliminary final. Izzy Lilburn was named as Best Player and Becky Havis named MVP for their team.

The Junior League division team made it through to the Grand Final, but were defeated by the Phillipines. In spite of the loss, the team returned home with the silver medal. Indigo Beck de Silva was named as the team's Best Player and Millie Fidge was named as the MVP.

A silver and bronze medal result was a fantastic introduction for SA in to the Little League International competition in the first year of its involvement in the tournament.

White Represents at 2018 World Championship

South Australia's Aussie Spirit representative Belinda White recently competed in the XVI Women's World Softball Championship in Chiba, Japan.

The local Sturt catcher and the Spirit were major contenders for a medal, finishing fourth after being defeated by Canada, securing Australia's pre-tournament world rankings (fourth).

Another local SA softballer, Chelsea Robinson, also traveled with the team as a non-player member, gaining some valuable experience as the team's bull-pen catcher.

With games live-streamed online and daily stories featured on the Softball Australia website, our local fans were able to log on and watch the Aussies do us proud.

The team will now immediate turn their focus to qualifying for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, which will involve winning an Asia/Oceania qualifying tournament at a venue yet to be decided by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC).
