Complex Instruction Program

Schools that have been involved in the Complex Instruction Program will be supported this year through these structures: T-facs (Teacher Facilitators) meetings, Video Club, and follow-up days for teachers who took the summer course. Teachers have also been invited to attend the Course Collaboration Days (see above).

We had our first T-facs meeting on Tuesday, August 28. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, September 25 at Mission High School. These meetings occur monthly throughout the school year.

The first follow-up day for teachers who participated in the CI course this summer (Cohort 10) is on Wednesday, October 10. Angela Torres will send out details soon, including information about substitutes.

Core Curriculum News

The SFUSD Math Core Curriculum student and teacher materials have been delivered to all schools. Please contact Elizabeth DeCarli if you are missing any materials or have extra materials.

The Math Portals allow teachers to access unit plans and resources, and allow students to access digital versions of the student pages. We continue to add online resources, such as Video Podcasts and Technology Resources, these are linked from the portal for each course and from the unit plan.

Algebra 1 Math Portal

Course groups in Google Classroom serve as the discussion forums for teachers, where you can learn about corrections and revisions and communicate with district colleagues about courses. Visit www.sfusdmath.org/google-classroom.html to get instructions for joining Google Classroom for your courses.

When you access the unit plans online, you'll find that they contain links to all of the student and teacher materials. When a resource is labeled as a "BLM (blackline master)", it means you will need to project it or make copies for groups––it is not included as a page in the student workbook.

This year, we will print and deliver the curriculum in two batches: one that you have already received and a second in December. Your feedback makes the curriculum stronger; please post resources, corrections, and suggestions to Google Classroom or to our feedback form:  http://tinyurl.com/SFUSDMathFeedback.

Featured Resource

Our featured resources are the family letters we have for every unit of the SFUSD Math Core Curriculum. We now have Spanish translations for the Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 family letters, and we will continue to build our library of translations. The student workbooks contain the family letter at the beginning of each unit, and you can also access them through Google Drive as Google docs if you want to edit and customize them.
