GEAR UP AFFILIATE BULLETIN

Welcome to the GEAR UP Affiliate Program, <<First Name>>. This bulletin, sent monthly during the school year, will give you information on deadlines and opportunities.

Your To Do List
Here's what's on your agenda for fall!
  • Review the GEAR UP Roadmap. The Roadmap provides a step-by-step guide to enhance your school culture while creating college and career-ready students using our research-based theory of change.

  • Build a College & Career Readiness Team. Having a team of people is critical to this work! See the Roadmap for instructions and suggestions on how to get the right people on board.

  • Complete your College & Career Readiness Indicator (CCRI) by September 30. With your team, systemically categorize the strategies and activities your school currently offers.

  • Survey parents (optional). Online surveys are available until November 30 at bit.ly/gearupaffiliateparentsurvey.

  • Join us to kick things off. We hope to have an Affiliate Fall Kickoff meeting this fall. More details on date and location to come.

  • Questions? Contact the Affiliate Liaison, Maddy Anderson.

Careers in Sports
Oregon GEAR UP, the Timbers Organization, and the Oregon Sports Authority are teaming up for a fun night of discovering just how many different careers keep Oregon's athletic industry running. It's not just players and coaches! It's marketing, community relations, athletic wear design, and more. High school students will spend the evening hearing from several professionals who work in the athletic industry, eating with them for more one-on-one conversations, and then sticking around to watch the Timbers 2 (T2) season finale.

When: Wednesday, October 3, 5:00pm
Where: Merlo Field, University of Portland
Who: High school students

Space is limited; complete the registration form by September 15 to let us know how many students you would be interested in bringing. We will let you know as soon as possible if space is still available.

College Visit Funds
Oregon schools may apply for funds up to $750/visit for school field trips to college campuses and college fairs. Funds may be used for transportation, substitutes for teachers attending the field trip, and meals. Schools will be reimbursed after the visit. Funds are first-come, first-served.
