BOTANY DEPARTMENT NEWS
Dr. Heather Root co-authored and published a research article in Global Change Biology, a monthly scientific journal covering research in conservation biology, environmental sciences, and ecology.  The article is entitled "Altered fire regimes cause long‐term lichen diversity losses".  Read the article here.  The article was also featured in some news outlets.  Read those articles here and here.

Dr. Bridget Hilbig co-authored and published an article in Restoration Ecology entitled "Repeated mowing to restore remnant native grasslands invaded by nonnative annual grasses: upsides and downsides above and below ground".  Read the abstract here.

Give your things a second life! Bring in a broken item (and tools if you have them) to the peer-to-peer Fix-It Clinic and let our volunteer coaches help you fix your stuff. Whether you need help fixing clothing, small electronics, a piece of furniture, or other items, come see what you can repair. All are welcome, and all coaching and repairs are free of charge.
