Coastal Clean Up Day
Sept. 15, 2018

Coastal Clean Up Day is Saturday Sept. 15

For those of you who are not aware of the intense amount of plastic in our oceans, please watch this YouTube video of a diver in Bali. Then go to this site, find your spot, and volunteer to help clean up our oceans and beaches on Sat. Sept. 15. The Army Corps of Engineers is Point Group for organizing this day of environmental activity in California.

All Marin County Coastal Cleanup Day volunteers are invited to a free BBQ immediately following the event at the Bay Model Visitor Center in Sausalito from noon to 2 pm, sponsored by the Sausalito Lions Club and the Bay Model Alliance.  Door prizes and fun!

Fun 8th Annual Bike Ride Success!
GWC had 10 riders on our 8th annual bike ride. The route was enjoyable, as was the picnic afterwards. Many thanks to Alex and Russ who coordinated the event!

Watershed CDs
GWC still has our most excellent watershed CD available. If you like bluegrass, country, folk, easy listening music, this is the one for you--or for a friend! $15 gives you a CD and supports our work in the watershed. You can buy one online via Paypal or credit card at https://www.gallinaswatershed.org/watershed-music-cd. Here you will also find a list of the songs and artists along with samples of the music and musicians that generously donated their work to our group.

Monthly Meetings
The GWC Board meets on the first Wednesday of the month in the Community Room of the Northgate MallEnter by the mall Food Court; turn R immediately; follow corridor to elevator; go to 2nd floor.  Meetings are from 7 - 9 pm and everyone is welcome.  We discuss matters of interest concerning our local creek and bay area watersheds. The next meeting is Wed. Sept. 5, 2014.

See You in the Watershed!

Friends of Marinwood Park Petition
Miller Creek, sister creek to Gallinas, is a beautiful, tree lined natural area throughout much of Lucas Valley/Marinwood. The Marinwood CSD (Community Services District) is proposing a new maintenance building. It replaces a very bad, falling down structure but is itself overly large, expensive, and impacts the visual values of the Marinwood park area. For more information, and a petition you can sign to support community oversight of this project, please go here (Website will be up after Labor Day) or go straight to the petition here.
