Students should learn in a safe and supportive environment. 

But disciplinary measures at school punish and exclude rather than support. 

According to the ACLU, "zero-tolerance" policies and suspensions directly contribute to the school-to-prison pipeline, and African American students are 3x more likely to be suspended than their white peers.

Humanities Amped is changing the norm by putting in place restorative justice practices, including peaceful conflict resolution based in communication and respect. These measures have already significantly reduced the detention and expulsion rates.
