We are thrilled to announce the exclusive Victorian performances of Vandemonian Lags in 2019.
Vandemonian Lagsis an extraordinary musical event weaving together drama, story telling and song, inspired by true stories from Australia’s convict past. Narrated by Brian Nankervis and Tim Rogers, Vandemonian Lags presents a suite of powerful new songs and stories performed by seminal Australian artists Mick Thomas, Tim Rogers, Ben Salter, Van Walker, Darren Hanlon, Sal Kimber and Liz Stringer. Backing them is an all-star band featuring Weddings Parties Anything’s Jen Anderson, Mark Wallace and Michael Barclay with Craig Pilkington.
This eventre-imagines the ‘rum, sodomy and the lash’ stereotypes with historic and contemporary relevance. Written, composed and produced by Mick Thomas and Steve Thomas, Vandemonium Lags was the centrepiece of the inaugural DARK MOFO festival at Hobart’s Theatre Royal.
Vandemonian Lags will be presented on opening night and Sunday at the 2019 Port Fairy Folk Festival.
