Thank you AZSA Community for helping us win the $5,000 bonus grant from CVS in the Community and ABC 15 Arizona! Due to the dedication of our volunteers and supporters, we were able to get over 2,100 votes to win this bonus grant.  This money will help us put more tower gardens in schools and continue to provide other great sustainability projects to our community.

Of course, this would not have been possible without our amazing volunteer
,Tearsa Saffell. Tearsa runs our tower garden project, among other projects, as our Sustainable Food Systems Priority Lead. You can check out Tearsa talking about her project and AZSA on ABC 15 Sonoran Living here. We look forward to putting this money to good use and putting more smiles on the faces of kids like these!

Sustainable Food Systems – Weekly Update – September 10, 2018

By: Tearsa Saffell
Contact: tearsa.saffell@azsustainabilityalliance.com

We had a busy week that kicked off with the announcement that we won the Community Heroes grant on Sonoran Living on ABC15. We are so honored to have won the grant by popular vote, so thank you once again to everyone who took the time to vote and spread the campaign. And thank you to CVSHealth and ABC15!!

This recent success means that we are now in need of a team to help us put vertical gardens in schools, and with ongoing maintenance. All training will be provided, all we ask is that you have a reliable method of transportation and a passion to teach kids how to grow food. Please contact me if you are interested, or have any questions.

Our Food Systems Monthly Meeting will be on Thursday, September 27 from 6-7 PM at The Churchill in Downtown Phoenix. As announced in the last update, all of our meetings will now be in-person. This month will be our trial run at The Churchill, we are hoping it works out because it is a really cool business model that supports entrepreneurship, local business, local food, community collaboration, AND THEY COMPOST! So please join us on this date to discuss all the amazing work we are doing in food systems, learn how you can help and tryout The Churchill!
