Ebony McKinney Arts Leadership Awardees
BEATRICE L. THOMAS [Regional Awardee] is an arts equity consultant, coach, and multi-disciplinary artist whose regenerative social practice nationally advances the work of queer, trans and POC artists. For nearly a decade, she has worked in the public, creative, and non-profit sectors in the San Francisco Bay area, dedicating her career to philanthropy and professional development for queer, trans and POC artists. Before becoming a consultant, she held Program Officer position at San Francisco Arts Commission. She is a lead consultant for Independent Arts & Media, foolsFURY Theatre, and SAFEhouse Arts. She is an inaugural APAP Leadership Fellow and received her MFA from the University of Texas.
THUY TRAN [San Francisco Awardee] is a Bay Area-based artist and experience curator. When not producing events, she’s writing and acting with Granny Cart Gangstas, an Asian American female comedy sketch group. Thuy co-founded The Rooted Recipes Project in 2018 to reflect on the ways that food has played a role in AAPI identity and resistance. A graduate of Georgetown University, she is the current Associate Producer of Public Programs at the JCCSF where she created a Foodways series to elevate Bay Area narratives through storytelling and meal-sharing. Thuy is a 2017 YBCA Public Imagination Fellow and 2016 EAP Fellow with Emerging Arts Professionals SFBA. Funding for the San Francisco Awardee is made possible by the San Francisco Arts Commission.
