New Hotdogs & Product Update

Aloha Friends! I have a number of announcements to make for this week including the addition of a new product to our menu. We will officially be carrying the new Redondo's Aloha Aina Franks. A hotdog made with all local beef and no nitrites (except those naturally occurring in celery salt.) The beef is Pasture Raised from Kunoa Cattle Company. Their local beef cattle are almost entirely grass-fed with the addition of about a pound of protein supplement a day per animal. It's a great option for bbqs or kid friendly quick lunches and continues to support a local company working to increase food security in Hawaii. You will see the hotdogs/franks at the bottom of our order form this week.

Product Shortages
Sausages- Our beloved Lamb, Antelope, & Portuguese Sausages made by Makaweli Meat company will be on backorder for 4-6 weeks. Sad news I know. In the mean time I will be working with Pono Pork to increase our sausage options through them.

Chickens- Maili Moa is in the process of rearranging their chicken production. We have a limited amount of large whole chickens available in the 5-7lb range selling for the discounted price of $4.99/lb. You will see that available at the bottom of the order form.

EVENTS
We have two great events happening this month. The first one is this weekend September 15th at Bento Homes in Kaka'ako. from 11-3pm. This was a rescheduled event due to hurricane Lane. The second one I am most excited about and will be the kick off of our new Talk Story Series.

Talk Story/Q&A Series
I'm most excited to announce the latest collaboration event I am hosting with Chef Sarah Burchard (@healthylocavore) at Impact Hub Honolulu on Wednesday September 26th from 5-7pm. Tickets are limited to 20 people and can be purchased at our farmer's markets booth or through our website. Heavy Pupus and drinks provided.

Details: ***Join us for a fun evening of insight into the story of our food. Farmer David Wong explains the complex system of farming he uses to raise pigs and also tackle food security and waste. Discover the details behind Pono Pork that goes beyond organic standards and incorporates one of the healthiest systems of farming and waste management in Hawaii. Enjoy delicious Pupus crafted by Chef Sarah Burchard (@healthylocavore) using fresh, local, & organic ingredients along with locally made beverages.

BLOG
Lastly, I officially started a blog where I will post more information about food sourcing, nutrition, regenerative agriculture, and culinary environmentalism. Those of you that regularly follow this newsletter are familiar with the topics that I usually write about in detail. These will now be posted on the blog. My goal is to increase consumer understanding about the details of your food sources, most specifically meat, but all agricultural as well.

This weeks blog is MEAT: GOOD, BETTER, & BEST
Here I talk about the reasons I prioritize certain meats over others. You'll likely find some surprising information in this one.

Thank you all for supporting local regenerative agriculture and wild harvesting!!! See you this weekend!
