MISS DUT ‘STEALS THE LIMELIGHT’ IN INDONESIA


After being crowned the second runner-up of the prestigious Miss Tourism Worldwide in Indonesia recently, reigning Miss DUT 2018, Zabelo Hlabisa (24) says studying at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) has prepared her to face the world.

“Being at DUT has taught me to be a great woman, a strong woman who doesn’t depend on other people. It has taught me to stay focused and keep moving despite all the challenges,” said Hlabisa.

YOUTH IMPLORED TO BE THE DRIVERS OF CHANGE


The Durban University of Technology’s Director: Special Projects in the Office of the Vice-Chancellor and Interim Executive for Student Services, Dr David Mohale said young people need to be drivers of change that they want to see in our society, and channel their anger in strategic and purposeful interventions.

“I wish to propose what I call Sufficient Strategic Anger (SSA) that young people need to save this country from the cliff of destruction.

SATN CONFERENCE EMPHASIZES COLLABORATION BETWEEN INDUSTRIES AND UNIVERSITIES


The second day of the South African Technology Network (SATN) International Conference, held at Elangeni Hotel in Durban, had robust engagements on the importance of collaboration between industries and universities.

The three-day conference began on Tuesday, 11 September and will end on Thursday, 13 September. With each day having its own theme, day two of the conference was held under the topic, “University Industry Partnerships in the Changing World of Work.”

DUT WELCOMES NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH DAAD


One of the key focus areas in the Durban University of Technology’s 2.0 Strategic Plan is building research and innovation for development, which means increasing external research funding with the aim to increase the percentage of staff with Masters and Doctorates.

One way these objectives can be achieved is through obtaining international academic partnerships with other countries so as to benefit the University and all its staff and students.

DUT AND ETHEKWINI MUNICIPALITY DISCUSS WAYS TO STRENGTHEN THEIR COLLABORATION

 

The Durban University of Technology and the eThekwini Municipality leadership recently held a meeting to discuss ways to improve collaboration and co-operation between the two entities.

The meeting which took place early this month was convened by eThekwini Municipal Manager, Mr Sipho Nzuza. This was part of Nzuza’s CEO forum which is based on consultations aimed at improving customer service.
