Technical Editing

I have been doing more industry “behind the scenes” kind of work as a technical editor. It is a very natural combination of my technical / engineering background and love for quilting, and I am really loving the work.

Art Inspiration

Thank you all for the additional art inspiration after my feature in the last newsletter. Today I am sharing another Instagram artist I have been enjoying, Elspeth McLean. Click on the image above to see the mandala stone being painted.

I would love to follow more artists in other mediums. Do you have any suggestions for people you follow that inspire you? Reply to the newsletter and let me know!

Quilty Orphan Adoption

Cynthia from Quilting is More Fun Than Housework is hosting a Quilty Orphan Adoption event. As Cynthia explains:

"Are you ready to scratch an older UFO off your list? Adopting out that "orphan" may be a better option than finishing it yourself!

Orphan Adoption Event

September 13th, 2018 through September 15th, 2018

Here are some more details:
1.  I am going to ask that any "orphan" linked up must be given away for free.  (If you are wanting to destash for money, there are other venues to do that on.)  I think it is fair that if you need to, you can ask that shipping costs be paid.  Just be sure and put that information clearly in your post.  And know that both parties enter into the deal at their own risk.  I hold no responsibility.
2. Have clear pictures and descriptions on what you are putting up for adoption.
3. Define the criteria for how you will decide who will adopt the item.  Is it a random number giveaway, do you only want it to go to charity, or is there some other criteria that needs to be met?
4.  Be sure and identify where you are located and where you are willing to ship to.
5. Define how long you are keeping the adoption open and when you expect to award the adoption.
6. Remember to link back to my blog so your readers can see what else is being offered.  And feel free to grab a button!"

Big Day for Wabi-Sabi Overland

Wednesday was a big day for the Wabi-Sabi Overland project. We crane lifted our @totalcomposites habitat box onto our U1300L subrame. The habitat is temporarily sitting on wooden blocks, so it’s sitting about 4” higher than it will. We will be re-positioning and securing it to the torsion free subframe in the next few days.

Current timeline and thoughts:
My husband begins a 1-year leave of absence from his job on October 5th, and his "full time job" will be working to finish the project. We hope to have the truck ready to start traveling in and using for small local trips this winter, with a goal of starting a big trip in late April 2019.

Industry News

In a little over a month, Fall Quilt Market will be held in Houston, Texas. I know that many within the industry are very busy with final preparations to reveal new items.

Have you explored the revamped Modern Quilt Guild website?

Upcoming Quilting Jetgirl Events

I am currently able to book through April 2019. If you or your guild is interested in having me teach, reach out to me at yvonne@quiltingjetgirl.com.

In Closing...

I am getting ready for a very busy October. I have a few projects that I get to share at the very beginning of the month that I am very excited about, so stay tuned! I am also traveling to be with the Greenville Modern Quilt Guild in the middle of the month, and my husband will be beginning his year leave of absence from work on October 5th. Lots of big milestones coming up! What do you have planned for October?
