Hi guys!

The Scheepjes Ubuntu CAL 2018 started yesterday and the last day has been a whirlwind of comments and photos.  I am delighted to see that so many of you are finding the instructions easy.  I have to thank Esther Dijkstra for her amazing video guidance, which has played a big part in making Part 1 go smoothly.  And, of course, all the moderators in the Facebook groups!

If you haven't heard about the Ubuntu CAL yet, you can find all the details here:
Ubuntu - The Idea Behind It
Ubuntu - The Reveal
Ubuntu - Information
Ubuntu - Special Stitches and Techniques
Ubuntu - Part 1

Please note that the pattern is available as free written-only PDFs (in MANY languages and US/UK terms) from Scheepjes.  My posts do not contain the pattern, only a photo of each round and some helpful tips.

If you are doing the CAL with us, don't forget to join our (unofficial) photo challenge on Instagram.  There are no prizes except 'Oooh's and 'Aaah's.  And maybe virtual apples.  I like handing out virtual apples :)

This #ubuntuflower photo was taken by one of my testers, Therese Eghult from Sisters In Stitch.  Isn't it gorgeous?

I had the great fortune of spending last Saturday at Black Sheep Wools with Tatsiana from LillaBjorn's Crochet World.  It was wonderful to connect with so many people, and to be able to share the experience with one of my crochet friends.  You HAVE to see her projects 'in real life'.  I am always blown away by her designs, but they are even prettier when you get to squish them.  I definitely need to make her Indigo Shrug.  Another friend of ours wore one on the day and it was so flattering!

Tatsiana has written a lovely post about her experience of the day.  It includes photos of our projects on display and some candid photos (like this one of me teaching someone to crochet).  If you are curious, you can read more HERE.

I don't know if you already follow Brittany from B.hooked, but I love her podcast and was extremely honoured to be featured on one a few weeks ago.  It is very much a fly-on-the-wall episode.  We ended up talking about so many things!  You can read more about it HERE.  The post includes links to the podcast, should you choose to listen to it.  And if you scroll right to the bottom of that post, you'll see a photo of the gorgeous Flower Puddles Ripples by Charissa Ragsdale.  That has also gone on my to-do list.

What else have I done recently?  Let me think for a second...

Oh, I wrote a post about the mandalas I received for my mandala wall!  It has a list of all the patterns used (if links are available).  Some of the ladies designed their own mandalas, so they don't have patterns yet.  Here is a picture:

I've noticed a lot of interest in Scheepjes Sweet Treat (previously Bonbon) on social media recently, so I thought I would remind you that I wrote a post about possible colourways last year.  You can find that HERE.

Milana Update

Remember the dog I told you about in my last newsletter?  The one I really REALLY wanted?  Well, sadly, our landlord was not amenable to the idea, so we could not give her a home.  BUT someone else HAS given her a home;  a good, loving home!  I want to thank each and every one of you who reacted to Tatsiana's quest to find Milana a home.

I hope you have a wonderful week!
