 The Big Show Is Over...
After almost a year of planning, topped by 2000 miles of walking in 3 days, the RnR show is now history. Rhody Cruiser members have worked on the Committee, came down early to setup, provided "Visitor Services" for Friday's Show, and even more staffed entry gates and Raffle Tables all weekend.
Without rolling out a big list of names, I just want to thank those Volunteers who made this possible. I am proud, and feel like this is a Rhody Cruisers event as much as Florence Chamber of Commerce.

 Rods 'n Rhodies Best of Show.
I almost fell over every time I walked by this Little Red Hot Rod. It is a 33 Ford 3 Window Coupe. A period correct dry lakes racer, from back in the day. The detail is amazing, and the overall look just knocks me out. I doubt it has ever seen much salt, as its a brand new build. Everyone I talked to said... "Yeah, Best of Show."

 OregonCoastHotRods.com presented its coveted
"Best Coastal Cruiser" award Sunday afternoon. This was NOT a tough choice for me, as I knew on Friday who won. As the moment arrived, I asked Russ to let me do the presentation. I wanted to explain that the award is not for the flashiest paint or most horsepower. I look for a car that has a family, and a job, takes care of the family, getting them home safe, ...and looks good doing it.
This winner joins a growing list "Coastal Cruiser" recipients now in the 4th year.
"It is my pleasure to present an award, that I didn't pay for, to a car that was not entered." and the winner is .....
A car that was workin' at the show for 3 days. It pulls a 5800 pound trailer around and runs the best outdoor sound system ever.
This 1969 Chevelle Wagon, was built in the memory of his son. Owned and built by Russ Strohmeyer. It was the Stro's Show that kept everything grooving.

Homecoming Game - Mapleton High School

Some of our members have participated for several years. The High School is looking for cool cars to escort the Homecoming Girls onto the field for the Halftime Show.
Need about 6 or 7 cars at 7:30 PM, Show at 8:00 PM.

LAST YEARS POST...The volunteers met up in town and Cruised to Mapleton. The run was attended by the Shelton Crew: Kim, Kathy and Jim with 2 Mustangs and a Yellow Hot Rod. Ken with his Thunderbird convertible, Richard with the Flaming Plymouth, Gary's Vega, and our group organizer, Don Stone with his Pontiac. We all got celebrity signs for the cars, and met the Royal Girls. With only a few minutes on the play clock, we loaded up all the pretty girls and rolled up to the field. We, in turn delivered the Princesses to the podium to be greeted with flowers, proud dads and cheering. After the ceremony, we returned to the stage to collect the ladies. Don had a bad thermostat, and overheated, along with a too hot Richard, justifying the flames. It all worked out when we got moving.
Thanks to all who came out to play, and to Don Stone for organizing the run for us.
