Word to the Wise

There are times in each of our lives when we are presented with opportunities to manifest things that take faith. I am sure each of you have had opportunities presented at some time in your life that you were not ready or properly prepared for.

Matthew 25:1-10 BLB
“Then the kingdom of the heavens will be likened to ten virgins, who, having taken their lamps, went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were foolish, and five wise. For the foolish, having taken their lamps, took no oil with them; but the wise took oil in vessels with their lamps. And the bridegroom tarrying, they all became drowsy and were sleeping. And at the middle of the night, there was a cry: ‘Behold, the bridegroom! Go forth to meet him!’ Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ And the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest it might not suffice for us and you. Go rather to those selling, and buy for yourselves.’ And while they are going away to buy, the bridegroom came, and those ready went in with him to the wedding feast. And the door was shut.”

The moments of regret that we experience when an opportunity passes us by that should be used as an impetus for future opportunities. We have to learn from past mistakes and make sure we are prepared for future opportunities. I still remember what a young man once said to me when an opportunity was presented for me to have an interview. I was not properly dressed and I did not have any makeup on. The young man told me that I always have to be ready when opportunities present themselves.
When God calls us to do something, we must be prepared for the opportunities as they come.

Putting Our Flesh Under: Our Sight

Last month, we looked at dealing with our flesh regarding our speech. Just like we must be led by the Spirit with regards to our tongue, we also need to be led by the Spirit in our sight.
2 Corinthians 5:7 BSB
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”

We have to be able to see things from God’s perspective, which is spiritual.
Proverbs 22:9 ESV
“Whoever has a bountiful eye will be blessed, for he shares his bread with the poor.

You have to be able to see beyond what you see.
Romans 8:24 BSB
“For in this hope we were saved; but hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he can already see.”

The enemy tries to keep you carnal and focused on what you see with eyes of flesh. You have to overlook what is before you and see into the spiritual. Whatever God has said is what will be.
2 Corinthians 4:18 NIV
“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

If you claim to have faith, when God tells you something, you take Him at His Word. You don’t have to see it in the physical to know that it is a reality in your life.
Hebrews 11:1 KJV
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

There are times in our lives when we are standing in faith for something that God has declared over us. The enemy will use people around us who are not walking in faith to speak words contrary to what God said to us. Where God wants to take you in faith, everyone will not want to go. You take God at His Word and stay in faith.
Matthew 13:13, 16 NLT
“That is why I use these parables.  For they look, but they don’t really see. They hear, but they don’t really listen or understand.” “But blessed are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear.”
Questions

1.    Do you allow what you see with your natural eye to determine what you believe?
2.    Do you believe in the unlimited bountifulness of God or do you struggle with a lack mentality?
3.    Are you able to operate as though what God has said is so?
4.    Have you experienced encounters with people in your life who did not have the faith for what God spoke concerning your life?
5.    Are you willing to continue to stand in faith, even if you have to stand alone?
