Today, a number of our Year 5 + 6 students are showcasing their Science Fair projects in the Activity Centre. For these students, the whole project has been a very good learning experience as they explored an idea, researched the science behind the idea, formulated a hypothesis, considered variables, carried out experiments, wrote up the process keeping a reflective journal along the way and summarised their findings on a display board. It is a project that requires students to be curious, attentive, reflective, fair and self-managing (amongst many other things).

Special thanks goes to Mrs Kerslake who has facilitated the Science Fair Projects this year.

These projects will now be presented to the regional Science Fair judges next week.
We are excited now be able to warmly invite you and your extended family to our 'Arts Extravaganza'! The theme of the event is 'Community' and is a celebration of our children's' creativity and hard work showcasing their Term 3 Drama, Dance, Music and Visual Art. There will be a range of items and displays for you to see around the school presented by classrooms, small groups and individuals. We will also be unveiling our new school mural!

When: Thursday 27 September at 5.30pm onwards
Where: Myross Bush School
What to bring: BYO picnic and blanket
Price: $5 per adult (children are free)

A coffee cart will be available and the Friends of the School will also be selling American Hot Dogs on the night.

Don't miss this opportunity of celebrating together! If there are neighbours in your area that may like to come along, due to a connection with the school, please feel free to invite them to purchase a ticket or better yet, get one for them. :)

Tickets are now available at the School Office. These may be paid for by internet using the reference ARTS or cash to the office.

We look forward to finishing the term by celebrating together as a community.
A reminder that our School Health Nurse, Rebecca Curtis, is available if you need help with any health matters.
She is a wonderful support for our staff, students and families. If she can't help with your inquiry, she will point you in the right direction.

You can contact her on rebecca.curtis@southerndhb.govt.nz
If you know of someone who is looking for Relieving work, please direct them to the school office.
There is a shortage of relieving teachers which is putting pressure on our classrooms. Thanks for your help!
Enrolment at Myross Bush is governed by an enrolment scheme, details of which are available from the school website. Applications are now being invited for Out of Zone Enrolments for a small number of Year 2-3 children for Term 1 2019.
We have no vacancies for any other level. The deadline for receipt of out of zone applications is October 26 2018 at 1pm.

If you live in the home zone and have not yet registered your intention to enrol your child for next year, please contact the school immediately to assist us with planning.
Congratulations to Caleb Devery who was in the Old Boys Club Football team that got second in the Invercargill U12 Football Festival in the weekend. They lost 1-0 to the Central Otago representative team.

Caleb (12th Grade) and Rory Coe (11th Grade) also both got Players’ Player trophies for their respective Old Boys Club teams this season.
The Friends of School are looking for an 'Examiner of Accounts'. The details of the role are outlined here.

If you are able to help, we encourage you to contact the School Office.
