I hope your year is off to a great start!  I'm sure you're already busy but we need your attention for a minute.  For seniors, there is a free college application workshop tomorrow, September 10 at 5 in the federal building conference room in Moscow.  For families, we want you to know that space is limited for our Explore Majors Tour UI Event October 5 and the College Knowledge Workshop October 6 (discussed below) so please rsvp soon if you'd like to attend! Read on to learn more about these events and other less urgent matters!
Palouse Pathways is hosting a booth at the Latah County Fair on September 13-16!  Come by and say hello, learn about our offerings, get your college questions answered  and spin our career wheel!!! We could still use a few volunteers to help during busy times; email palousepathways@gmail.com if you can help.  (High schoolers and recent grads welcome to volunteer!)
Seniors, you've worked hard to get good grades and participate in clubs and activities.  That's GREAT, but now you've got to put the same work and care into your application.  Think of your application as a strong finish, the place where all your hard work pays off.  Palouse Pathways is hosting a FREE application workshop tomorrow September 10 from 5-6:30 at the federal building conference room in Moscow for those who want to finish strong.  We'll answer questions like  Apply early or regular decision?  Common App or Coalition App?  What should you  write about  in your essays? Submit test scores or go test optional?  By the way Arun Ponnusamy, the speaker at our College Knowledge Workshop October 6, has a great college application guide called How to Make Your Common App a Lot Less Common. You can download the guide here
EXPLORE MAJORS AND CAREERS & TOUR UNIVERSITY OF IDAHO OCT. 5
Erin Doty is an Enrollment and Advising Coordinator at University of Idaho's College of Letters Arts and Social Sciences, where she counsels undergraduates on choosing majors.  She thinks deciding what to study shouldn't cause stress, it should provide an opportunity for students to explore their interests and strengths and all the possible directions their college degrees can take them.  Palouse Pathways is partnering with Erin to offer a major exploration workshop for tenth, eleventh and twelfth graders.  The workshop will take place at University of Idaho on October 5 (a no-school day for many Idaho students).  It will be followed by lunch with current students and a campus tour.  Space is limited so email Palouse Pathways to reserve your spot or for more information.  MAJORS WORKSHOP, LUNCH AND TOUR OCT. 5 10-1:30 pm University of Idaho

FACEBOOK HIGHLIGHTS
Palouse Pathways maintains two facebook groups: a general Information group and a group focused on scholarship information.  We'd love for you to join, if you haven't already and to invite your friends with middle and high school students to join too.  The Palouse Pathways Group  has  great information for college bound families.  It is suitable for both parents and high-schoolers.  Here are some of the articles posted on the Palouse Pathways group this week!
