Principal's Message
Dear Hosford Families:
We are excited to see you at Back to School Night on Wednesday, Sept. 12. Please be sure to take a photo of your student's schedule, to have your student write down their schedule for you, or bring your student with you (students are welcome, but information is primarily directed to families). In order to be environmentally responsible, we will not be distributing student schedules at the event.
This is a time for teachers to share class expectations and content in a whole-group setting. If you would like to meet with a teacher to discuss something specific to your student in detail, you are welcome to do this at any time.
There are pre-meetings before the main event:
Emerging Bilinguals: 5:30 PM (library), Special Education: 5:45 PM (cafeteria), Talented & Gifted: 6:00 PM (classroom - will be posted)
Main Event: 6:20: Welcome in Auditorium
6:30: Passing Bell - travel to classrooms
Families will follow their student’s schedule through Periods 1-7 as follows:
6:33 - 6:43: 1st period
6:43: passing bell
6:47 - 6:57: 2nd period
6:57: passing bell
7:01 - 7:11: 3rd/4th periods
7:11: passing bell
7:15 - 7:25: 5th period
7:25: passing bell
7:29 - 7:39: 6th period
7:39: passing bell
7:44 - 7:54: 7th period
7:54: Event Ends
We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday evening.
Thank you,
Kristyn Westphal, Principal
SBAC & OAKS standardized test reports for individual students
You should expect to receive a copy of your student's test results in the mail (from our district office) this coming week (Sept. 4 - 7). If you do not receive your student's report, please let us know.
Our overall results are embargoed until October 11 (we are not allowed to release them until that time), but we do know already that we had significant growth for several student sub-groups. I will send out more information when this overall data is released by the state.
Thank you,
Kristyn Westphal, Principal

Hosford Middle School PTSA Presents
2018 FAMILY SCIENCE NIGHT
Monday, October 15th at 6:00 pm
Family Science Night is a unique experience for Hosford’s families and teachers to visit the museum as a community and spark an interest in science. This exclusive event for Hosford Families is designed to foster community between teachers, parents, and students, and strengthen parent family involvement in science exploration and discovery. Our school will explore OMSI’s popular exhibit halls, as well as the Physics Lab and Life Science Lab, engaging in exciting hands-on activities. PLUS, the King Tut Exhibit is open as a special add on for our exclusive night! See you October 15th at OMSI!
A few weeks ago the PPS IT Department changed all student passwords district-wide. The default password for your student/s is: Pps###### with the # representing the 6 digit student ID number.
Please go to password.pps.net with your student/s as soon as possible and help reset the password to a unique, personalized password which meets these requirements:
at least 8 characters long
three of these four: upper case letter, lower case letter, number, symbol
should not include student name or ID number
If your student/s is/are unable to change the password, we will assist with this change. This week students will have the opportunity to change their password in their Language Arts class and staff will be able to assist if problems arise.
Thank you for your help!
