Register Today: 2018 Rapid Re-Housing institutes for the CoC and ESG Program – October 2018

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), with the support of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness (USICH) and other national partners, is pleased to open registration for the second annual Rapid Re-Housing Institutes (RRHI). These events are specifically targeted to Rapid Rehousing (RRH) managers, practitioners, and crisis response system planners.

This is HUD-approved training. This means, while there is no registration fee for this training, the costs associated with travel and staff time to attend are approved Continuums of Care (CoC) and Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG) Program costs. However, space will be limited as discussed below.

The two Rapid Rehousing Institutes for the Fall of 2018 will be identical in content. These events will bring together Rapid Rehousing (RRH) practitioners and planners from around the country for an intensive, 1.5 day long training/conference focused on various topics and creative solutions to rapid rehousing and rapid resolution practices – please see the draft agenda and session learning objectives for the event to help guide who should attend.

Training Objectives

Participants will:

  • Understand how communities can use strategies like RRH, homeless diversion, and rapid exit to overcome the challenges brought by the national affordable housing crisis.
  • Learn through didactic training and panel presentations by expert practitioners and community leaders from across the country.
  • Be able to promote creativity and locally responsive strategies to overcome the barriers facing individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
  • Support providers and systems in communities.

Who Should Attend?

This training is intended for CoCs, ESG recipients and subrecipients, and recipients of CoC Program funds.

Registration Information

This year, the VA is working to offer Continuing Education (CE) credits for event participant. If you are interested in obtaining CE credits from this event, please select this option during registration.

Due to space limitations, there will be a limit to the number of individual attendees per Continuum of Care. Most CoCs will be limited to up to 3 participants (including any ESG recipients or subrecipients interested in attending), while CoCs with Annual Renewal Demand (ARD) amounts over $30 million will be able to send up to 8 participants. Slots will be provided on a first come, first serve basis, and there are only 200 slots per institute.

Once registration opens, act fast to ensure your CoC will be represented. Supportive Services for Veterans Families (SSVF) Grantees do not contribute toward your overall CoC cap. SSVF grantees will receive their own registration information directly from the VA. It is strongly suggested that CoCs ask SSVF grantees which event they have been assigned to attend (East or West) so that CoC participants can be with grantees at the same event, where possible, to support enhanced collaboration. CoC and ESG recipients must coordinate and work with their RRH providers to identify whether there are programs/staff interested in attending these events. A preliminary agenda is attached to this email.

This event is being sponsored by the VA, with support from HUD and USICH, and the primary SSVF TA partners.

Once you register, you'll receive a generic confirmation email. Registrations received before midnight each day will receive an official confirmation with accommodation and travel details within 24 hours after registration. Please do not book flights or accommodations until you receive the official confirmation email. If you do not receive the confirmation email within the 24 hour period, please contact the RRHI planning team at ssvf@tacinc.org.
