SSC Meeting

Tuesday, September 18, 5:30-6:30pm
Room 205

The School Site Council (SSC) is the major part of the overall decision-making structure at our school. Participants are elected by their peers (parents, principal, teachers, and other school staff) to represent the members of the school community. Their primary role is to guide the Site Planning Process to ensure that the needs of all students are specifically addressed in the School Site Plan. In addition, the School Site Council oversees the site-based budgeting of categorical funds.

Everyone is invited to participate in this decision-making process at SSC meetings. However, SSC members will be leading the discussion.

All HMCRA Committees

Just one of the many ways to be active in our community is to join an HMCRA committee. They are all in need of volunteers throughout the year. Please see more details here about the goals of each of these committees and what help they are looking for. If you are interested in taking part, the email contact for each committee is listed in the link above. Please be in touch!

Family Potluck - An HMCRA Tradition!

Thursday, September 27, 6-8pm
Cafeteria

It has been a long time Harvey Milk tradition that all families come together and get to know each other a little bit better... And what better way to get to know one another, but by sharing food: your families favorite food(dish) whatever it may be! Sign up here to help make this HMCRA tradition a success! (Just remember - NO NUTS please!)

And if you want to kick the celebration up a notch: perform a dance for us or come dressed in traditional clothes that represent your heritage - let's really celebrate how beautifully diverse our school is!

An HMCRA Family in Need

A family in our community is going through a very serious medical struggle. The baby brother of Anaya Collins in Ms. Burton-Laurance's 5th Grade class, and Jonah Collins who graduated and is now in middle school, is very sick. Noah was diagnosed last spring with Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare terminal form of childhood cancer. His family is in need of support, both financial and emotional, to get through this unimaginably painful time.

Please consider donating to this gofundme page to help with their everyday expenses.

Chicken Volunteers & Garden Work Day

Our chickens need some care on a weekly basis, and you get paid in free, fresh eggs! If you are interested, please read the brief description in the link and sign up for a time slot. We are in need of some help as soon as the weekend of 9/21. Sign up here.

The next School Garden Work Day

Sunday, October 21, 10am - 2pm

Everyone is welcome to have fun planting, decorating, cleaning up and helping with general maintenance projects. Getting your hands dirty in our garden is a great way to help beautify our school, and a fun, therapeutic activity to share with your family.

We will have plants, light snacks, and all the tools and materials we will need on hand.

If you have any questions, please contact Randi at garden@harveymilk.com.
