In partnership with Good Shepherd Services, we are pleased to release a new guide, “Promoting Supportive, Lasting Adult Connections for Older Youth in Foster Care: Good Shepherd Services’ Permanency Pact Program” which describes the agency’s program in support of relational permanency for older youth aging out of foster care.
With New York’s laser-like focus on improving permanency outcomes and increasing kinship placements and connections for children in foster care, the release of this guide is important and timely. Our systems have been especially challenged in finding permanency and ensuring lifelong adult connections for older youth in foster care. The purpose of the Permanency Pact Program is to tackle these challenges in achieving relational permanency by strengthening and formalizing existing relationships between a youth and his or her relatives or other close adults.
