Envirolution Welcomes New Project ReCharge Teachers

Thanks to the Nevada Governor’s Office of Energy (NGOE) and funding from Tesla, Project ReCharge is being expanded into new six new schools while reaching over 1,500 new students during the 2018-2019 Academic Year.
The program was launched with a 3-day summer intensive training in July followed by a full day of training in August, with another day of training taking place on September 22. There will be monthly PD trainings throughout the year.
On behalf of the Project ReCharge team and partners, we welcome our new educators and look forward to supporting them for years to come!

Teacher Feedback on Summer Training

During Project ReCharge professional development sessions, teachers get to experience numerous hands-on, energy focused activities that they will engage their students with throughout the year as part of the 8-12 week curriculum.
Teachers were surveyed about their experience at the summer training, here are some of the highlights: Twelve of the thirteen teachers responded that they learned useful teaching strategies during the PD. All of the teachers felt that interacting with other teachers during the PD was useful. 100% of the teachers said they’d recommend this PD course to a colleague.

"This was hands-down the best PD session I’ve attended. If nothing else, the time and thought put into the material kits is absolutely amazing."

"Loved it! Day went by fast so that means my students will love working on this too! Excited to bring this back to the classroom."

New Envirolution Team Member:
Chaja Hogeweg

Chaja began working for Envirolution this month in design, video and marketing.  She comes to us from Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space where she was an AmeriCorps VISTA member.
Chaja grew up in Amsterdam and studied at The Willem de Kooning Academy Rotterdam University, a Dutch academy of media, art, and design. She majored in Animation Video and Design and worked as a freelance designer and animator, mostly for environmental non-profits that fit with her values. After marrying a Midwestern man in 2015, Chaja restarted her career in the USA.
Chaja has a great love for the Reno outdoors and loves spending time in nature, camping, hiking, and backpacking. This is why it is important to her that kids learn about sustainability, and make sure that future generations can enjoy nature as much as she does.
