MISSION
The purpose of the Friends of Fort Harrison State Park is to collaborate closely with Fort Harrison State Park staff in order to: Support property staff in projects and events that preserve, manage and interpret both the natural and cultural heritage and recreational opportunities of Fort Harrison State Park.

Visit the official Fort Harrison State Park website, the Friends website or the Friends Facebook page to learn of upcoming park and Friends volunteer events. Monthly Friends board meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month at 7:00pm at the Visitors Center (open to the public, all are welcome).

National Public Lands Day:           
The Friends of Fort Harrison State Park is partnering with REI, INDOT and INPAWS to help with a variety of projects including invasive plant removal, more Tree ID Trail work and bridge repair. Wear closed toe shoes and bring gloves. Long pants,  long-sleeved shirts, hats and sunscreen recommended. Friends will provide water.

Cowboy Bob & Wrangler Gail Bark Walk:
Volunteers will be needed to help with the annual Bark Walk: water stations, registration, other activities.

Also coming up in the park: Schneider Corporation employees will be volunteering their time to help perform playground area maintenance on Friday, September 28th. The Friends greatly appreciates Scheider's help and encourages other companies and organizations to put together a group event with us to help improve the park for the community. If you are interested in setting up a group volunteer event, please contact us at friendsoffortharrison@gmail.com 
 

 

Tree ID Trail!

The Friends and volunteers completed the first round of rehabilitation of the Tree ID Trail at the park. On September 1st overgrowth was trimmed and new tree ID plaques placed on the trail that circles the Millennium Grove picnic area.
 


 


Fort Ben BBQ & Blues Festival
 
Join The Friends of Fort Harrison State Park on September 15th, 2018 for our Inaugural BBQ & BLUES FESTIVAL!
Food will be available for purchase starting at 12 pm. Food vendors include Wild Boar BBQ & The Garrison Restaurant.


Music program begins at 1 pm:

1:00 PM – 2:30 PM -- JOHN FORD 
3:00 PM – 4:30 PM -- BILL LANCTON & JIMMY DAVIS
5:00 PM – 7:00 PM -- KING BEE & the STINGERS 

The BBQ & Blues Festival will be held at the Cherry Tree Shelter & Parking Area. Parking will be available at Delaware Lake, Reddick and Sycamore Shelters.

Attending the event itself is free but the State Park gate fee still applies ($7.00 in state car load, $9.00 out of state car load). Bring a blanket or chairs to sit on.
