WHAT'S HAPPENING AT EvFREE – SEPTEMBER 13, 2018

A LETTER FROM OUR PASTORAL STAFF

Hi EvFree family!

I am so thankful for you. I am thankful for the events we attend together as a family, the ways we serve each other and for the sweet times of worship together on Sunday mornings. I look around on Sundays and I see Jesus’ face in each and every one of you. I see parents singing with their children, spouses faithfully giving of their finances, friends reading Scripture together and brothers and sisters greeting each other with love. Watching you all worship and having the privilege of worshipping with you truly gives me the sweetest feeling of joy in my heart.

I am so blessed by the time we get to spend together on Sunday mornings. To me it is a true picture of what heaven looks like. Our time together makes me eagerly await the time we will all be together in heaven, singing “Holy Holy Holy!” There’s something so beautiful and God-honoring about many different people, in different seasons of their lives, and all different ages choosing to come together and worship the One True God. I know that it’s not always perfect. You might be running in late from dropping off the kids, have some difficulty with the person you came in with or you may not particularly like the music that morning, but that time is valuable, meaningful and special. Let’s not let it pass by without appreciating it and truly entering into communal, Spirit-filled worship with our Lord and Saviour. During our week, we are rarely in a room where everyone is there for the sole purpose of worshipping God together. How beautiful is that?! Thank you God for giving us that joyous time together!

So, as we go through this sermon series on our Mission Statement, I can’t help but smile at the beautiful image of this body, in acknowledgment of His great love and sacrifice, lovingly uniting in the sacrifice of our individual preferences, expectations, and desires; no longer living for ourselves, but for the One who died for us and was raised from the dead! I can’t wait for the next time we all gather together and praise the One who is so worthy of our praise. And I can’t wait to see you, dear brothers and sisters, on Sunday and worship with you.
“Give thanks to Him; Bless His name! For the Lord is good; His steadfast love endures forever, and His faithfulness to all generations (Psalm 100)."

L'viv College Mission Trip

The L’viv College team spent two weeks immersed in a culture we were unfamiliar with, communicating despite a language we did not speak, and living with people many of us had never met. However, for me, my roommate was a girl named Alla who I grew close to during my trip last summer.

Last year she and I talked throughout the week about school, and family, and life in general, but most importantly we talked about God. When I asked Alla about God she responded passively. To her, everything in her life was flawed; her school, her family, even herself. To her, God might or might not be real, but it didn’t matter because everything in the world was broken and prayer did nothing to help that. However, I noticed something different this year; she was reading her Bible! Our discussions this year revealed that she had given her life to Christ.

Alla is just one of the many students who has repented at the camps that Josiah Venture runs, but what struck me about her story is that she didn’t repent at camp. The last time I spoke to her she was still lost and confused, but now she speaks with clarity and faith; she is a new person. Through her, I am reminded that God does not stop working when we leave. — Amanda Pace

Support and Care Ministries – EvFree is blessed to have a number of support, care and marriage related ministries. The General Fund underwrites some of the curriculum costs for groups such as Healing Hearts (wives recovering from sexual betrayal), Grace Alliance (individuals struggling with mental illness), Men of Moral Integrity and Peer Counseling. It also provides scholarships for facilitators of these groups seeking advanced training. In addition to all this, our General Fund also pays the cost of professional consults and evaluations for some counselees in the Peer Counseling program. It pays for outside evaluations of Peer Counselors in training prior to the beginning of their counseling ministry, and it provides a gift card to those who train the peer counselors.
Numbers are based on an annual budget of $7 million dollars.
