We have decided that this Wednesay's market is cancelled. We realize the weather won't be so bad on Wednesday, but the area is sure to feel the hurricane's effects starting Thursday--possibly with several days of rain and wind and possible loss of power for many, even if Hampton Roads is spared the very worst of the landfall. So we know customers will be more focused on preparing their homes and getting non-perishable food, bottled water, batteries, emergency supplies and gasoline on Wednesday. And our farmers and vendors have the same concerns, as well as the need to harvest crops ahead of the storm and safeguard livestock, hives, outbuildings and equipment. We hate to cancel a market, especially with so few left this season, but with such a large storm approaching the region, we feel this is best. Stay safe, and please come support our vendors on September 19!
