Mordecai CAC June minutes:

Mordecai CAC minutes from the June 12th, 2018 meeting Co-Chairs Sean Farres and Aaron Afarian welcomed everyone to the meeting. There were 106 people in attendance, and the May minutes were approved.

Police Report Officer Taylor said there were only two car break ins from May 1st, and thank you for locking your cars!
Parks and Rec Josh Ingersoll from the Halifax Community Park reminded us that the park website and facebook page has information on what is going on at the park.
Budget Proposal Vote The budget was approved unanimously.
Raleigh Rainwater Rewards Sean Farres made a brief mention of Raleigh Rainwater Rewards program. For ways to participate in this program, that helps reduce the amount of pollution that reaches Raleigh’s streams, see raleighnc.gov.
The Gables Motel Update Tift Merritt and Daniel Robinson
Tift and Daniel gave a brief background of the project and answered some audience questions.
Q Gift shop? No, not really a gift shop. It will carry local products like books and music from local authors and artists.
Q Bar and noise? Noise is a concern for both neighbors and hotel guests. The approximately 520 ft2 space will only hold 25-30 people and will have limited hours.
Q Pool? If a pool works out it will be more of a soaking pool at about 15 x 18 feet maximum.
Q Special Events? Yes, for small intimate gatherings. There is a small chef’s kitchen, and there will be no amplified music.
Q Have there been neighbor concerns? We hope the neighborhood feels like this is a collaboration. The will be frosted windows and fencing for the privacy of both guests and neighbors.
Q Parking overflow? We understand, we are negotiating staff parking. We are encouraging guests and visitors to arrive by Uber/taxi or on foot.
Q What do you like best about the area? Tift said she moved back to Raleigh when her daughter was born two years ago. Her grandmother is buried in Oakwood Cemetery. This is home.
Q Walk? Yes, there is no sidewalk on that side of Wake Forest Road. It may be part of a later phase of the WF road diet. It is on the radar!
Q Will the carport be saved? If it can hold up to it, it will be moved so that parking is not in the middle of the lot. Q Pet friendly? We’ll get back to you on that.
The vote to support the rezoning request results were 95 yes, one no, and two abstains.
