University of Barcelona joins the EUF.

Founded in 1450, the Universitat de Barcelona is a comprehensive higher education institution that presents a deep-rooted academic tradition coupled with a vigorous research activity that rank it as one of the first scientific universities in Spain. Being one of the biggest universities in the country, it welcomes a large number of students from both Spain and abroad every year. It has over 64,000 undergraduate students and almost 19,000 master and postgraduate students and doctoral candidates. More than 11,000 students are from overseas and of over 139 different countries. The University of Barcelona will host the upcoming Erasmus Going Digital conference on the 18th of October. We look forward to expanding our avenues of cooperation to improve Higher Education together!

Making a difference in the EHEA.

The EUF member universities continue to work to make a difference in the European Higher Education Area with a successful round of newly funded Erasmus+ projects! Get to know the promising eleven projects that will be kicked-off this autumn, including one Knowledge Alliance.

OLA+ receives award in Luxembourg.

On the 3rd of July, Anefore, Luxembourg's National Agency, has awarded an Erasmus+ trophy to the Online Learning Agreement+ (OLA+) project. Joachim Wyssling and Isabel Catarino attended the Erasmus+ Summerfest, where high-value projects in the field of education are recognised. The trophy, handed by Jerry Lennert of the higher education funding body CEDIES, is the second awarded to our digitisation project for its second phase of development. The OLA+ project is one of the pillars of Erasmus+ administration digital strategy, together with the Erasmus+ App, the Erasmus Without Paper network and the European Student Card.

This project has tested different approaches to blended mobility for Higher Education professionals and we would like to present the outcomes to you. Registrations are open until October 18th and participation is free of charge. We look forward to seeing you!

European Universities Initiative.

The aim of this initiative is to bring together a new generation of creative Europeans, who are able to cooperate in different languages, across borders and disciplines, to address the big societal challenges and skills shortages that Europe faces. The European Commission is about to publish the call for proposals for this ambitious initiative, and until them you might find it interesting to read the position papers put forward by several stakeholders, including the EUF position paper.

EU-Japan strategic partnership.

On July 17th, at the EU-Japan Summit in Tokyo, the new joint call for joint master programmes between European and Japanese universities was signed and a closer higher education collaboration is expected under the new Japan-EU Strategic Partnership Agreement. Read the joint statement.
