What a weekend!
Thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered, mentored, hosted, sponsored or came down to GovHack this year.
We had an amazing time and we thank you all for bringing an electric atmosphere across Australia and beyond ⚡ 💖

Take a look at some of the highlights of the weekend below, but first...

GovHackers, we need you!

We have a Peoples' Choice Award 🏆
While our official judges are busy going through all your wonderful projects, we ask you to vote for the Peoples' Choice Award. Why not have a say and vote for the projects you think are best- anyone that has a completed project on the Hackerspace is able to participate in this judging.

How do I vote?
➡️ Log into Hackerspace
➡️ Click "Projects"
➡️ Have a browse, watch some videos and find one you want to vote for
➡️ Click the blue button on the top right "view scorecard"
➡️ Fill in the scorecard (you can edit this later)
➡️ Repeat this for as many projects as you like

Judging for the Peoples' Choice Award is open until 11.59PM AWST 26th September. Please note you can't vote for your own project.
A great photo of the #GovHackRockhampton crew and participants! This building was built in 1899 and now operates as the Rockhampton SmartHub, which was kindly provided from the local council for the GovHack weekend.

FunRetro- easy team collaboration
The GovHack National Team has been using FunRetro.
After a conversation with our Lead Agency Sponsor DTA, who introduced us to the great online tool, we decided to try it for ourselves at our meetings. We loved it and wanted to share the handy tool with you all!

FunRestro asks three simple questions which helps teams to review a project or event retrospectively. This highly valuable information is often missed and funretro helps you capture it in a easy, collaborative way

Try it for yourself
GovHack Parramatta, saved at the very last minute!
We spoke to Dean Cvetkoski, CEO and Founder of Vesuvio, who came through at the very last minute as the Host for GovHack Liverpool.

"It was as equally stressful as it was exciting and overall I would have to say that being able to host the event in 24 hours is an outstanding achievement and everyone who contributed made the experience tremendous."

They came, they coded... now they sleep

They came with names like ‘Save Lives, Not Spreadsheets’, ‘A Nice Well Behaved Cheese’ and ‘I Adopted a Puppy Today But I’m Still Here Hacking’: teams with multiple skills from programming to design to video making. Some even tweeted their pets dressed in 'merch'.

Who were these crazy people? GovHackers, of course! The annual hackathon began at 7pm Friday 7 September and finished Sunday afternoon - 46 hours later. These teams readily consumed, along with pizza, loads of open government data. Sifting, mashing and rising up to the various challenges offered by  agencies.

That's all for now.
