NSW Blues a big success in the ANC

It's never too late to share great news. Congratulations to all of the NSW teams at the recent ANC in Hobart! NSW repeated our performance from 2017 by qualifying for all 4 finals and winning 3 of them. Once again there was an excellent spirit among the teams who all supported each other. Their distinctive blue team jackets also meant they stood out everywhere they went (as well as keeping them warm in Hobart)!

They were not only winning by the look. The Youth team dominated their round robin, but then had to come from behind to beat SA in the final, completing a 3rd successive win in the event. The Seniors won their round-robin and also comfortably beat ACT in the final. The Open finished 2nd in the round robin, beat Victoria in the 2nd v 3rd playoff, then came from behind in the last set to win the final against ACT. The Women also finished 2nd in the round robin, comfortably beat SA in the 2nd v 3rd playoff, and narrowly lost to WA in the final. More photos can be found on the NSWBA front page and the ABF official website.
The State Veterans Pairs was held by end of July at Bowral. This state event continues its success and has attracted 40 pairs this year. The title was won by John Brockwell and Richard Douglas. Congratulations! More results can be found HERE

CONGRESS PSYCHE REGISTER

The NSWBA has decided to establish a central psyche register for all congresses held in NSW.

The laws permit players to deviate from their systemic agreements so long as the partner of the player who does so has no greater reason to be aware of this deviation than the opponents. Once your partnership has a history of deviating from its agreements in a certain situation you are required to inform your opponents of this tendency.

If you feel that your opponents have psyched against you, please email details of the hand to the psyche register – no action will be taken against players who are reported to the psyche register but once a pair has multiple entries in the psyche register, congress directors will be informed so that they are aware of this history when making their rulings.

A form which can be used for submissions is available HERE.
