Exciting News!!! Austin was selected to host next year's National Peace Corps Association Conference! We're super excited and look forward to putting on a great show for our fellow RPCVs from around the country June 20-22, 2019.

Save the date for our HoTPCA Annual Meeting and Potluck on Sunday, November 18th 3:00-6:00 pm at the High Road on Dawson! We will take care of all official board business including elections, budget, and changes to the by-laws. Regional food assignments to be included in the next newsletter. Invite your friends!

Peace Through Diplomacy is a GlobalAustin event that recognizes the important role of diplomacy in creating greater peace. The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. with a networking reception followed by dinner and dessert in the Mabee Ballroom on the campus of St. Edward’s University. Special guests include Julie Kavanagh, the Department of State Diplomat-in-Residence for Texas, and keynote speaker Kevin Tuerff, author of "Channel of Peace: Stranded in Gander on 9/11". HoTPCA Service Spotlight: Summer 2018 

HUGE THANKS to all of the volunteers who came out to our school garden work day on such short notice! It's amazing what 10 people can accomplish in just 2 hours. The garden looks great for the first few weeks of school. Our students and staff are so grateful to you all! Interested in coordinating future volunteer opportunities for HoTPCA members? Volunteer English tutors needed at Open Arms Studio


HoTPCA Member Mary Braunagel-Brown (Morocco, 1968-70) is seeking volunteers to help with her weekly class/tutoring session for the five refugee women who are working at Multicultural Refugee Coalition’s Open Arms Studio. Some experience teaching ESL is helpful but no certifications are required. The class is scheduled for every Tuesday from 12–2 pm in the East Austin studio where the women work. Want to learn more? Call for grant projects with an October 10th deadline!

Do you have a pet project from your country of service or something in line with HoTPCA funding values? Submit them to be considered for a small grant! Bonus points if you aim to match funding. Submit an application here. The Grants Committee will meet October 11th to consider submissions.

Official Peace Corps calendars will be available at our Annual Potluck on November 17th for $15. Pre-order now at hotpca@gmail.com subject line: Calendar. We will also have t-shirts available for a suggested $30 donation, pre-orders encouraged as well. All funds raised support HoTPCA's Grants Program and our small operational overhead! Learn more

Want to Become a HoTPCA Member?

HoTPCA welcomes all RPCVs, applicants, and community members at our events. If you want to go one step further, you can become an official member! As a member, your annual dues ($15) help to fund the ongoing projects of currently serving Peace Corps Volunteers and RPCV-sponsored projects. To learn more or to become a member, visit our website or email Michele.
