Beach Day and Bonfire
Saturday, Sept 15th, 2018
Come join us for our annual beach day! We're joining up with ASCE this time. We'll be grilling up some delicious food and enjoying some fun in the sun. We'll play some volleyball and cool off in the ocean. To end the night, we'll enjoy a beautiful bonfire underneath the stars!
If you're new to UCI EAS this is a great opportunity to get to know some active members and meet our new board members as well as cool off in a relaxed and fun environment! Hope to see you all there.
Be sure to RSVP as food is limited!

Monthly Hike: Monrovia Canyon Falls

Septembers's hike will entail a beautiful walk through the San Gabriel Mountains to Monrovia Canyon Falls! Monrovia Canyon Park is a small, 80-acre park that sits just outside the boundaries of the Angeles National Forest in the foothills of the San Gabriels. This 30 foot double-cascade is not the tallest nor most impressive waterfall in the San Gabriels, but still an absolutely lovely and serene grove that feels a million miles away from city life. Plus, this waterfall continues year round! The hike is about 3 miles and easy. Anyone interested in meeting some engineers and getting some light exercise and socialize should definitely come out!
Since this hike is close to downtown Monrovia, we'll go grab some food nearby after!

Day at the Beach: Paddleboarding & Brunch

Automated Traffic Surveillance and Control Tour
It was an eye-opening experience learning about what it all takes to make LA move at the LA Department of Transporation's ATSAC center! With our gracious host/tour director, Jeffrey Xu, we learned an enormous amount about LA's city transportation. The shear amount of screens in the center were captivating with a massive view of all the different kinds of intersections in the LA area. For more about this tour, check out our website!

Eaton Canyon Hike (w/ ASCE)
August's monthly hike brought in a huge crowd including a spectacular waterfall where everyone had fun and cooled off as well sight seeing all sorts of engineered flood protection devices as well as a structural bridge that went over the trail! There was an amazing views and an even better picture! Check out our website for more pictures!
