I am continually inspired by your work as you push the boundaries of knowledge. Our office is here to help and I wanted to update you on some changes coming in 2018-19.

We began a multi-year process to restructure Research Administration to make it more effective and user friendly in 2016. Project Wahoo has been making steady progress ever since and now we are launching phase II. We will be modernizing the software systems used throughout the Office of Research. Earlier this month, we announced that the Institutional Review Board is the first area to get the new software. Grants, Agreements, Institutional Animal Care and Conflict of Interest will follow and we expect to be done by Spring 2020. We will be sharing more information as we get closer to each transition. We know there will be some bumps, but I ask for your patience. Our goal is to provide you better service.
UCF AND SMITHSONIAN collaborate, after receiving $1.25M grant, using GIS and drones to map coastal vegetation from Baja to Alaska.

TO BE OR NOT TO BE? New research findings demonstrate Pluto is a planet, and should never have been demoted to dwarf status.
UCF COASTAL DEBUTS in Central Florida aiming to find solutions to sea-level rise, algal blooms and other threats.
NEW COMPUTER DESIGN underway at UCF may lead to better hurricane predictions and cyberattack prevention with better and fast computer chips.
UCF IS SEARCHING for volunteers to assist with clinical trials to determine if sesame oil extract can help Crohn’s disease patients.

Did you know that no IRB submissions will be accepted from Dec. 3-20? The Office of Research is switching software during this time to make the process more efficient, so we ask that you plan ahead. For more information, click here
